25 Tallest U/C - CMAs under 500 000

Lately I've been getting sick of seeing Toronto dominating the U/C threads so this thread is for cities with less than 500'000 (CMA) to show off their tallest under construction if they are on the list below. I compiled this list manually by searching through the forums so if your city has any others that should be on her please let me know. Some of the Construction threads were very hard to find things on so I likely missed a few.

Thank-you to Moncton, Saint John, and St. John's for keeping an updated list on the first page.

For comparision to nation-wide. The shortest on the 10 Tallest is Jamieson Place at 184m.

The List - January 19, 2009:

01. Hilton Hotel - 52 floors - 177m - Niagra (ON)
02. Renaissance - 28 floors - 93.5m - London (ON)
03. Capella Tower I - 27 floors - 82m - Langford (BC)
04. Waterscape - 25 floors - 77m - Kelowna (BC)
05. Seawalk - 24 floors - ? - Nanaimo (BC)
06. Silkwind - 23 floors - 77m - Colwood (BC)
07. Lucaya - 21 floors - ? - Kelowna (BC)
08. Trillium - 19 floors - 65m - Halifax (NS)
09. Pacifica - 19 floors - ? - Nanaimo (BC)
10. Bauer Lofts - 15 floors - 57m - Waterloo (ON)
11. Arrow Lofts - 16 floors - 56m - Kitchener (ON)
12. The Falls - 18 floors - 54m - Victoria (BC)

Halifax U/C

Trillium - 19 floors - Ecavation continues. The hole is now one floor deep and the foundation should be poured in the next few months (the picture is from November).

I'm sure the new 14 story office building in Red Deer belongs on that list, but I don't know its actual height.

There were a couple taller condo towers slated for Kelowna as well... not sure what's going on with those.

Yeah, Skye (26 floors), Lucaya (21 floors), and possibly Madison (15 floors) and Invue (15/16 floors?) in Kelowna would bump a few off that list...

Not sure about the heights though...

560 Queen St. Kitchener 43M roof 14 floors:
Pic taken back in August by me. Topped out now, still working on the interior, cladding, etc.

Arrow Lofts, in Kitchener, is still listed as a Proposal, and constuction on the project has been stalled for over a year now. I dont think it should be on the list.

Bauer Lofts, also topped out:

Schembri King St. Student Apartments, King & Erb St. Waterloo 46M roof 15 floors, also topped out, working on the disgusting stucco exterior:

I see Kelowna has not made the list yet. With its developments added the list will certainly need some alteration. According to the diagrams section Kelowna has 5 buildings 12-25 storeys u/c at the moment. Unfortunately I can't find heights for any of them.

Between the diagrams section and Emporis they are:

Skye (part of Waterscapes) - 26 storeys
Lucaya - 21 storeys
The Madison - 15 storeys
Invue Sky Residences - 12 storeys
Sandman Hotel - 12 storeys (however I think this one might actually be completed despite what the diagrams section says)

Some pics:

Exactly, we have a few highrises u/c in the 15-25 storey range, but they are too small to be included in the 'top ten' thread... they're even too small to be included in the 'top 11-30' thread!

oh well, at least it's density.

Thank you "'le calmar" I looked through the list and added some. I knew there would be more for Victoria but your guy's construction thread was hard to figure out.

Where is that database? The only one I know of is diagrams and they don't have every project. Last time I looked none of the Halifax ones were on it.

Added them based on guesses compared to the other buildings.

I'm just curious to know how many cities roughly would be on a list between 500'000 and Vancouver's size?

It's not the fault of the list, rather the fault of a large city building squat buildings - i.e. - Ottawa.
