Minas Tirith, Capão da Canoa, Brasil - 13 floors (detailed model)

Why "Minas Tirith"? Well, I found some similarities between the city and this building when I finished modelling it... specially the top, with the Ecthelion Spire and also that plataform (which I forgot the name, but Denethor jumps from it on the movie)

Anyway, the building was designed for a competition on the SSC forum. The competition consisted on creating a building design for the city of Capão da Canoa. Several rules were followed, according to the real city rules:

-Max of 12 floors, one more floor allowed for party hall
-no subterranean garages (Capão da Canoa is a beach city with sandy floor)
-all apartment units must have at least one garage box
-up to 12 meters, buildings can be "glued" to one another (can occupy the whole terrain to the sides. Over that height (and also in any residential floor) there must be at least 3.5 meters between the wall and the terrain border.
- the rules of the competition stated the terrain area should be 30x30 meters, which is the most common land size for buildings in the real city.

some internal drawings

3rd floor, garage

7th floor
Notice I didnt draw the entrance doors to the apartments. Also, due to an alteration in the model where I included the curved glass façade, some walls do not touch the glass façade. Because of that, there is a small opening connecting the 2 backside apartments to the 2 frontside apartments

1st floors with duplex apartments (9th floor)

2nd duplex floor (10th floor (notice I didnt modeled the stair connecting both floors of the duplexes)

12th floor. I wrote the area measures of the left side front and back apartments.

Woah! Amazing! Are you an architect or just a SU fan? How long did those renderings take?

to both: nope, I am not an architect, just a SU fan.

to Aleks: renderings were done in VRAY and took some 10 minutes each. Notice that VRAY is a BIASED renderer. Also, I have a Quadcore 9300, and VRAY makes extensive use of multiple cores, which GREATLY accelerates renderings.

to Skyscraper100: lol... what is a louver? That is one english word I never heard... probably english derived from french btw...

@verticalextropy: thanks pal. As for the brazilian beaches, Ive never been to Buzios.

Wow Trantor, amazing design. How long do you think the model took? I really like the design but like others have said, the spire is a little too much. Everything else is great. I'd like to see more Photoshoped images with the buildings renders.

Planning to work o something else soon?

Louvers are brisesoleil in Brazil...

@ Trantor, if you can do 3d modelling and renderings, why you not contribute with the diagrams part to Brazil cities as well? It is a pity has only me. You are brazilian in south and you participate a lot in SSP forum. Why not also in diagrams?? It is a pity I am alone... I help editing the buildings you want to be corrected or included. You can even include your fantasies..

Because diagrams are usually made in Paint or similar pixel-by-pixel editing programs... not in 3D...

yeah trantor but you can do the images from your 3d model as well. Actually it does not matter in which system, software and method you do, surely if it is 100% yours. You can of course make the 3d modelling and then export 2d images in paralel view, without 3d perspective, cropping and adding details with other applications. It is not necessary to be with paint. I actually never use paint, I use power point and did some 3d with CAD as well. I never drew pixel-by-pixel, in opposite, only more or less similar forms.
I think you can contribute a lot or is that an excuse of not doing? I hope not. Brazil deserves more people contributing in diagrams. Just make a try. You have huge abbilities, so please help. The beginning is hard until you get practice of in which method you best do, but once done, then is easier to follow and you have a goal of on what to put your drawings, hobby work. Otherwise has less sense of doing. Increasing database catalogue is an objective for every one who searchs for a building. Better one there with low quality or whatever than nothing. So please consider twice. You can everytime write me per PM if you need help.
