I can't decide whether I like the Spectrum condos or not. I like the Piet Mondrian-like colour elements...but from a distance the hulking collective mass formed by the four buildings looks almost commie-blockish!
Not really sure, I only know of Mt. Baker. Can you tell from this horribly magnified shot? Too bad I didn't have my new camera back then, as it had a more decent lens.
Yeah, the snow was really nice...for about a day. It pretty much shut down the city, and I couldn't even drive for close to a month.
All pictures were taken in Vancouver proper except the 2: the panorama...which was taken from Cypress Mountain lookout point (city of West Vancouver I suppose). Also, the Skytrain picture was taken in Burnaby. I would say the best view of the mountains is from anywhere elevated, so on the slopes of Burnaby mountain and near Queen Elizabeth park. West Vancouver also has a nice view of the mountains in Washington state as well.
Did you manage to get Mts. Baker, Shuksan, RAINIER and Olympics in the second pano? There are a lot of highrise clusters too!
The volcano-looking one is Baker, but the other isn't Shuksan, but something that's further south of Baker... the Twin Sisters? The other mountains you see along the horizon in to the right are actually the San Juan Islands: Lummi Island and Orcas Island, I believe. You can't see Rainier or the Olympics from Vancouver unless you're in an airplane taking off over Vancouver. You can see the Olympics from Victoria, however.

The pano was taken at: 49.353039,-123.177981.
It was quite a cold day, hence being able to see that far.

Great shots. I was wondering where the shot below was taken. And then I looked up Mestiso's Pet Spa and saw it is at Oak and 15th. On Google maps it looks like the building is u/c. Any idea how long ago this building was completed? My brother lived near there a few years back (only for less than a year though) and I can't recall that building being there the few times I checked that area out. It looks like a nice development.
^^ It was taken 4/29/2008 12:07PM. I don't recall it being opened that recently...Google uses pictures from March 2004 according to Google Earth for that tile....and it looks like the roof was done by then. So my guess is that it opened in late 2004.
You can see the Olympics from Victoria, however.
