Almost topped out?

The structure has not grown very much in the past two weeks, so this one may almost be topped out.

Is that two-toned glass I see behind that covering?

Night Shot 7/2/2010

I am almost certain that this is topped out. The crown is now lit up at night. Embassy Suites is the building on the right and the Hess Tower to the left. The turbines are also on at the neighboring Hess Tower. See my post on the Hess Tower for some short night videos.

So work is starting on the roof/crown. Hopefully it'll turn out good.

Looks like they cut off four floors from this thing. What happened to those balcony rooms/suites in the rendering on the first page?

What is that bright feature which appears to be in front of the tower crane?

Looks like the E.S. scaled back to 19 floors and it is possible this will have a flat roof and look nothing like the rendering.

The part that is lit up is an actual decorative light box that the developer was touting as being able to be seen from the elevated freeways. Not sure how they got around this as downtown Houston has a strict light ordinance/code prohibited this type of thing...

I hope it doesn't have a flat roof, I really liked the artist rendering....

The lightbox is already on the roof. Hopefully they'll build out around it...

Roof design?

It is hard to tell how the design will be at this point. The top half of the building except for the crown has construction netting wrapped around. I drive past this building twice a day on my workdays, so I will keep the updates coming.

Wow, this topped out already, I was just there 2 months ago about and it was barely halfway TO, this went up crazy fast. I am sad now, no more towers for Houston in the foreseeable future, with the completion of ES, Hess, and Disco, nothings left

Five Allen (or is it Five Houston) is still a possibility.

Yeah, 5 Allen Center is proposed, but I believe anything that has been proposed for 2+ years is dead, and I haven't followed major construction projects for long, but hasn't that been the case for Houston? Any "wiser" people out there could chime in on how long proposed projects take to go up in Houston. As I've only followed these buildings going up for the past 3-4 years.

Never say never. I say that and just recently read that Houston made the top ten layoff capital:

http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com...s%3A%20Houston

Don't get too depressed; NYC, LA and Chi-town made the list as well.

What about that Montrose (sp?) residential tower?
