[QUOTE=micropundit;5313168]Project will include 320 units, 8,400 square feet of ground floor retail a start date of October,2011 with move in on November 2012.

Construction bids are now being accepted for this project. I think that we will most likely see site work beginning sometime this year.

Hmmm...methinks that the timeframe is not as quick as you say it is and methinks even if it were, move in would not occur in just 12 months construction. Mehas the knowledge of the project right at me fingertips, but me doesn't have the power to access that knowledge. Me wishes I did

City hall east to become ponce city market

Jamestown Properties plans to pour at least $180 million into the current City Hall East. It recently unveiled its new concept for the project, calling it Ponce City Market, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Early plans call for about 236,500 square feet of retail and 21,250 square feet for restaurants. Developers will also try to lure companies that want loft office space -- a rarity in Atlanta. They’d offer 100,000 square feet floor plates and skyline views

Wow, that looks great. I want it to happen now, so I can go
I'm so glad they're finally finding a use for the space.

This is awesome! Reminds me of the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Can someone please post the other pictures? I'm having trouble viewing them.. maybe because I'm not a subscriber?

One of the most overlooked/ underappreciated aspects of this project is the fact that it is a transit oriented development. Ponce City Market sits adjacent to a proposed Beltline transit stop. And Jamestown Properties, the developer, is also the owner and developer of New York's famed Chelsea Market. Chelsea Market is near but not adjacent to the High Line, a highly lauded public greenspace . With the addition of the Old Fourth Ward Park across the street, Ponce City Market stands to become Atlanta's version of Chelsea Market with the added feature of transit access for the residents, customers and workers of this ground breaking development.

Unfortunately, based on the pics in the article, looks like the project is gonna have lots of surface parking. If true, very disappointing.

Strange, this story is.

In Dallas today on the news, there is a report about the windows in the W Austin falling out and shattering on the cars/street below. Apparently they all have to be replaced.

I went to the original presentation about this project, which included these same renderings, a while back and that question about what to do with the other lots on the site was asked. They would need to assemble the lots, which are owned separately I believe, but they would eventually in the long term like to see the whole block filled up.

It has been a while since I have posted, but it seems things may start picking up in the ATL!
Ponce City Market is a great announcement as well as the apartment towers in midtown.
Happy 4th!

Why would Novare start a new project when they haven't finished the north tower of their downtown project, the remaining 2 towers of Viewpoint, or the second tower in buckhead... behind the church?

Probably because those projects were/are condos and this project is apartments. At this time in Atlanta, the aprtment market is more viable that condos because of the current inventory of unsold condos.

Dewberry buys 1400 Peachtree for $6M. "It purchased the tracts at such a low price that if Atlanta's job growth improves next year it could be one of the first Midtown developers to launch a building." Does this mean that this particular site could be the first developed or another site that is owned by Dewberry? Or maybe the first office tower developed? I guess we will just have to wait to see what happens.
