How great would it be to see Atlanta's rail map look like this a decade from now?

The map contains an inaccuracy: the LRT Emory line would actually go all the way down to Avondale under current plans from the referendum.

I may be wrong, but I thought I read a while back that the first phase would be to Emory/CDC with a second phase to extend it to the Avondale station.

Ok, so I've been trying to find this and can't, but what is The Ansley? Site? Renderings? I know this was posted pages back, but it has been bugging me, haha.

Renderings: BB&T Atlanta Open to border the I-75/85 corridor

being built on the site.

The 3,600-seat stadium court will be visible from I-75/I-85, offering an outstanding view of the Atlanta skyline. This is one of the few outdoor tournaments ever to be held in the middle of a city on the entire ATP World Tour. Play begins with qualifying rounds on July 14 and 15 and first round main draw matches begin July 16.

^ Are they still going to have that other court right on "Central Park" or whatever that lawn is called?

Very happy to see the Atlanta Open in...Atlanta.

Hopefully one of the biggest tennis cities in the country can support its own tournament.

Seems like Mardy Fish is skipping it which is too bad given how integral the tournament was to his late-career surge.

Is this a permanent venue or one that will be taken down after the tournament is over?

I think I remember reading that the stands are temporary.

So these are awful pictures, taken from a moving car, but an update none the less.

Skyhouse:

and that new Medical Building across from Piedmont Hospital on Peachtree:
awful picture I know, but the point is a crane is up..

Pics taken by me.

Oh, and I saw the crane up for the new building beside the St. Regis, which I think I saw posted here already.

Thanks for the updates. Are they going to have to raise the Skyhouse crane? And can you post the pic next to the St. Regis and what is the building and how high? Thanks

Ok, so I spent forever trying to find out how I knew about the crane by the St. Regis and finally found something on it, although I have no idea how I found this to begin with.. someone.. somewhere.. probably posted it and I found it. Annyywayys, a blog post on it: http://buckheadview.blogspot.com/201...ces-ferry.html

Wait, the Georgia Sierra Club opposes the TIA???

That's brilliant. Yes, let's work on "Plan B" like Seattle. Because Seattle, WA is completely analogous to Atlanta, GA.

It took a lifetime to even be able to buy alcohol on Sundays. They think we'll all work together in GA for a new plan that makes everyone pay more for gas???

Gah, didn't it take Seattle 25+ years to get something passed? I feel like if it doesn't pass now it will never pass. Granted, I would love more rail. But, i'll take what I can get.

I'm just excited about the street car going from Cent. Olympic Park to Georgia Tech (via Luckie Street) and continuing on North Ave.

That is horrible. We need this to pass. I don't understand why anyone would not want this to pass. We need road improvements just as much as rail in my opinion.

The Sierra Club has let its ideology of the perfect get in the way of what is possible. Being "elderly", I would like to see at least some transit added. I've waited for the "brain train" for years - still waiting. The Clifton Rd corridor transit (which is in the plan) is very important to connect with Marta and finally the Beltline will get a boost with this.

It is hardly perfect, but if we don't pass this it will be years, if not decades, before any new plan. Let's pass imperfect plan "A" and then work on the perfect followup plan.

92 West Paces Ferry Road

The project will have one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with 10-foot ceilings, top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances and wood cabinets, granite counter tops and large balconies. The exterior be a stone and “real stucco” exterior and would be consistent with the architecture of the St. Regis and the more traditional buildings in that area of Buckhead. It will sport a large fountain in front.

Porsche HQ closer to deal, VW could follow

The Atlanta Business Chronicle is reporting that the deal to locate Porsche's North American headquarters to Aerotropolis is back on track but that Volkswagen may also join its fellow German automaker on the site.

After idling for almost a year, Porsche Cars North America Inc. plans to purchase the land for its U.S. headquarters at Aerotropolis Atlanta this month, according to sources familiar with the project.

The new headquarters, a showcase for the Porsche brand to be built near the Atlanta airport at Jacoby Development Inc.’s Aerotropolis, will help anchor the nearly 130-acre mixed-used redevelopment of the former Ford Motor Co. assembly plant in Hapeville.

Atlanta City Council later this month is expected to take action to allow Porsche to purchase the land from Jacoby Development.
