Maybe not exactly the same but pretty darn close.
The difference is the Green Line was pretty much just people daydreaming whereas the current study is actually being done with the cooperation of DOT and Forest City who will be the ones to actually build the station complex.

Count my vote for concept "C" since the station complex extends further east and would therefore probably integrate better with Five Points MARTA.

Here's an informative panel discussion of TSPLOST:

http://www.ajc.com/news/transportati...type=ynews_rss

One guy is basically telling Atlanta that they're being "lapped by Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, and St. Louis" on transportation legislation, and that our ancestors understood transportation and we don't. Interesting stuff.

Also, today at church they mentioned a "transition period for the Peachtree-Pine shelter and Imperial Hotel over the upcoming months." Anything concrete about this?

Fidelity Bank Ponce de Leon Branch Coming Soon!

Fidelity Bank has a sign at the corner of of Ponce De Leon and Monroe that they are opening a branch in 2012, where an existing closed branch is located. Not sure what the status is, but here is their corporate link.

https://www.lionbank.com/location/po...on-coming-soon

This corner has been an eyesore for a long time, so I am glad to see some life added to it. I just hope they can thrive alongside the bums that live across the street and loiter/pander on this corner. Here is fingers crossed that this leads to this stretch of Ponce getting cleaned up.

Briarcliff and North Druid Hills Intersection Improvements

The project was drawn up in 2005 and is under construction in 2012. Always a fan of pedestrian improvements but a 7 year delay?

Thanks for the positive comment. I went to Georgia Tech and lived in-town for a number of years before returning to the Southside (close to family). I still follow the goings-on in town and hope for the best.

I keep hoping the MMPT will move forward as well as the commuter rail proposals. Knowing how this town works, I believe that commuter rail has the best hope of changing peoples driving habits. And, since it uses mostly existing infrastructure, it would be the cheapest to implement on a per passenger mile basis.

From Symphony Tower (remember that?), I can see that 77 12th is 2 or 3 stories out of the ground.

Skyhouse and the dual-branded hotel on Williams and 10th are both moving along quickly.

I think the pace is starting to pick up on 77 12th too.

Cobb Pkwy (Hwy 41) Bridge Reconstruction

Was in the area and snapped some pics of the Cobb Pkwy (Hwy 41) bridge reconstruction near Vinings. Glad to see that some of these antiquated bridges are being replaced.

100 6th Street

Is it me or did Novare just copy Skyhouse to the T when proposing this new proposed development?

100 6th Street

Skyhouse

Can't be a bit more creative? I understand the economics of hiring a few architects who can churn out the same cookie-cutter designs but please... ... Novare. Refine you're color palet and call me if you want help designing a proper building crown... Hell, they should have an open design contest. I bet the public could add some style to the ATL skyline that they just don't seem to care about!

At least its mostly glass. There are far worse in the city, like all the brown precast buildings.

I don't see a reason to put a crown on a 20-something floor building.

I can't stress enough how poorly this interchange was conceived - at least in as traffic lights are currently configured. For those of us (a lot of people) who travel from the west in the morning, exit here and need to get into a right line, or as I need to do the far right line - immediately to turn into the Ravinia complex, this is now a dangerous exercise. Previously I was already in the far right lane and now I am several lanes over and need to get over in seconds, all while cars are coming to get left to get on Hammond.

It's made worse by the many cars coming from the east who are in the far right lane which was always meant to be a lane to get in to Ravinia only, but they treat as a lane to cut the other lanes.

It's a mess. There are brief periods where the east traffic has a red light, but it's brief, most of the time it's everyone going everywhere.

I guess it could be worse. But hey, maybe a brown building would spicy things up. Esp if it was a nutmeg color ... Doesn't have to be ugly, just different. Variety in design is good in my opinion
