I dont think brazilian legislation allows private property, which is restricted to real estate area, to cross over or even invade area of public property (sidewalks, streets, etc).

thus, sidewalks over streets are RARE and need special permission and changes in municipal legislation to be built.

ps: apparently the word pórtico translates directly as portico in english (basically an italian word inserted into english language). Its interesting that in latin languages, its easier to find words etimology family... pórtico, portal, porta (door), portão (gate), porteira, etc. Door, Gate and Portal seem to have no relation on the other hand, in the english language.

This one from Milwaukee is in the Miller Brewery Complex. Its not for people as much as it is for beer. There are several conveyer belts suspended over the walkway inside of it that have cases of beer flowing over them. Its very Milwaukeesque when you go under it and just see a constant flow of cases of beer over the road from the bottling plant into the warehouse:

There are a bunch in Wilmington, maybe 5 or 6, definitely at least 4. I think all of them exist to connect Bank of America's Bracebridge buildings to each other. They used to be MBNA's buildings before Bank of America took over, and MBNA built them. DuPont used to have a skywalk connecting a couple of their buildings, but they uninstalled it maybe 10 years ago or so.
