Miami Beach

Greetings.

I went for a quickie visit to South Florida in December 2008 and am finally getting around to posting some photos that I took.

This post is of Miami Beach. I parked near the Lincoln Road mall and walked down Collins Avenue then up Ocean Drive.

Lots of good Art Deco-type architecture, of course.

Here is the evidence.

Collins south of 16th:

I was fascinated with this "green" parking garage looming over the shops:

Great colours:

Condos at the southern tip of South Beach:

Now up Ocean Drive we go:

Natives participating in recreational activities:

The duneside walkway that goes behind the hotels/residences north of Ocean Drive:

Either a reno or new work in progress (or stalled - it was a Saturday - no construction activity detected)

The Setai Condo/Hotel - unreasonably high rates:

Lincoln Road Mall:

Key West is next.

Very nice... the foliage is growing in nicely over that parking garage. Good job continuing on beyond the women playing volleyball on the beach... I doubt I would have had that perserverance... woulda ended right there.

Great pictures. The Art Deco buildings in Miami Beach are always nice to look at, and the pastel colors go well with the palm trees.

No city can keep such a mint collection of Art Deco structures and still paint them pastel like they can in Miami. Beautiful shots of many of the gems on South Beach. Love the Delano and the National hotels, classics.
