London Diagrams

Decided to try and spruce up our diagram a little with some new additions.

The old diagrams for the Colborne Centre complex were looking pretty tired so I've started drawing new ones. They're mostly done, just not sure whether I like the trees or not. And there's supposed to be a few trees on the left too. What do you guys think?

Once I finish and submit these I'll start work on the Harriston.

Wow, nice! Certainly not the best looking buildings, but these diagrams look great. If you're going to add some diagrams, I would also recommend you do the Crown on King, and maybe redo the Ren towers. They look like hulking beasts right now!

Keep at it bolognium. No idea how you're making these but they're awesome.

With London's diagrams currently being showcased on the main diagrams page, you'll be sure to attract a lot of viewers.

I started working on the Harriston, but damn is that building ugly. Just drawing that monster was putting me in a sour mood. The Colborne apartments may be ugly, but at least the know they're ugly.

So I drew the Crown on King apartments instead. SSP had the height estimated at 73m, but the developer received a maximum allowance of 80m. I figure I'll have to edit the diagram once the buildings are actually complete so if the height is off I'll fix it then. Also, the taller tower is definitely the one under construction, right? Maybe I should add that to the comment section when I submit the diagram...

Residential towers with 9' ceilings are generally 3.1m between floors.

3.1m X 24floors = 74m + a 6m mech penthouse = 80m.

You can safely go with 80m in height now.

Yes. The second, shorter tower will be about 71m.

Also: the Harriston will be about 80 - 83m.

The Renaissance towers should be re-drawn. The posted renderings are fairly inaccurate. Check your PM's for details.

Other buildings at 50+ metres not included in the SSP diagram include:

- London Towers South (65m)
- 520 Talbot (60m)
- 155 Kent (48m)
- 190 Cherryhill Circle (62m)
- Victoria Hospital (approx. 65m) (that would be one hell of a drawing, viewed from Commissioner's Rd: 185m wide, 65m tall, 3 towers)

Thanks for the Harriston numbers, Snark. Again SSP's estimate seemed kind of low on that one. I wasn't even able to fit in the mechanical room using their 70m estimate.

After I finish the Harriston I think I'll redo the London Towers complex. Like you said, the south tower is missing and the east tower's diagram is screaming for an update. On top of your list, the Gartshore towers on Ridout, Station Park Hotel on Pall Mall and Peter McGregor tower on King should probably be done at some point.

Also, thanks for the Renaissance line drawing. I think I'll take a shot at drawing it once I complete a few of the missing buildings you mentioned. And that Victoria Hospital drawing should be fun, there's certainly nothing like that on London's diagram right now.

Doesn't that seem somewhat tall, considering most residential towers of 23 floors are in the 60 to 70-meter range, or is there a particular oversize ceiling height element to this building?

Yes there is: 9 foot ceilings in all residential units and common-use penthouse (3.1m per floor), above ground internal parking for 2 floors (worth 3.5m - 4m per floor), and an inordinately tall mech penthouse.

Imagery shows the structure to be nearly identical in height to the nearby Talbot Centre towers, such as this image posted last year from Dither City that illustrates this last point very well. Both buildings are pretty much the same distance from the camera and the camera viewpoint at a higher elevation in order to make a consistent comparison:

I never realized that London had so many twins until I looked at the London diagrams.
