I must say this thread has gotten me a tad nostalgic for my hometown. Great photos folks. I know I could easily look this up, but where is that Sobey's? I'm guessing next to Beaver Hill park, where the Cecil is/was.

^you are totally correct. the northwest corner of 104st and jasper right beside the standard life centre and beaver hill park and a block away from the boardwalk.

People have different tastes. I like all sorts of styles. Most people shudder or look in disgust at these brutalist/mid century styles but I quite love them, and often times I see elements of them in modern buildings. They just look so funky and bold for the time, especially since they just came out of the classic architecture style. I quite like it, it's cool. I quite like certain commie blocks/1970s, 60s, and 50s/brutalist/mid 1900s modern apartment blocks.

I love the tint color of glass on it... anyone know if it is still the original glass? As far as I can remember, it's been that way.
