I love the new look! I really like landscaped walls (and I can't think of any in Salt Lake City), so I think it will be a great addition to S Temple, especially since it is being built on what is currently a parking lot.

While I like the design of The Lotus, I think the Madeline fits in better, architecturally on South Temple, plus the Madeline looked to be 6 stories.

The Lotus design seems like it would fit better anywhere south of S. Temple. I am happy to see some unique buildings being built though, East Downtown is and will continue to be a very unique and diverse place to live.

I like the Lotus better. Not that I didn't like the Madeleine Apartments, but I like when modern architecture mixes with historical architecture and I think this will complement the Cathedral quite well.

I think the design of the Lotus would be fine anywhere else in SLC, but on S. Temple, it seems tacky.

I kind of agree, too. I do like the design, but I think the Madeleine probably would have been more appropriate.

If these guys are putting up an apartment building, why isn't cowboy partners putting up their long awaited one next to Harmon's!!

I agree. The design of the Madeline is a better fit for across the street from the cathedral. The Lotus would be good further south or around Pioneer Park.

I agree, to the extent that modern architecture is well designed and finished. The rendering for the Lotus is interesting, but also looks like it has the potential to go south in a hurry if not executed well. I'd hate to end up with something like this on S. Temple across from the Cathedral:

(These are the Kirtland Condos on 300 W., which I believe were converted to apartments after being built)

Right. I was thinking some really elegantly designed piece of modern architecture could fit in on S. Temple, but the Lotus is not it.

That building really turned out bad. Had so much hopes for it from the renderings. Its all the exposed concrete that I find messes it up and no real street appeal.

ctobsl & John Martin, Thanks for the photo updates!

I'm not sure how I feel about the courthouse building yet. I'm not a fan of just having a solid tinted glass facade, but I suppose they still need to add the features from the renderings.

Has construction begun on the Lotus? If not, I would hope that we could do something to stop it. I mean, really. It does not fit in with the look of South Temple at all...

Thanks for the photo updates! The public saftey building may have topped out at 4 stories but only on that small corner. This building is going to be vast.

I was downtown Saturday night, and you're right--the Public Safety Building is both bigger and more impressive than I had thought. I'm excited for the addition that it will bring to that part of downtown. It's looking great.
