There's a brand new exit sign northbound on Hwy 99 where the designer forgot to center some of the text, so one of the words is off on the left edge, while the rest is centered. These mistakes would be caught by any sort of review process. Clearly there is no competent oversight at all.

You got that right. In most of Europe, the highway signage is big, clear, and comes with big graphic direction panels. The ones in BC are small, often hard to notice, and often malplaced. A study trip to Europe by responsibles for the BC Highways signage department wouldn't hurt any, that's for sure.

Drove by too quickly to get my phone out to take a picture, but will try again next time I'm there.

Yep, I live out in the valley and don't leave the freeway at 104th/160th very often but last night we headed in for the fireworks and two sets of signs had the 104th South and North. Confused the hell out of me as I had not got off at that exit since the change. I ended up having to turn south on 160th and then turned around in the park and ride so I could continue "West" on 104th.

trofirhen: Actually, there's a lot of European influence on our guide signs (at least, as of more lately). The guide signs on B.C. Expressways very closely resemble the highway signs in the Netherlands. The new FHWA signage standards in the US specify signage styles very similar to BC (i.e. they now have upward facing arrows and such).

Just noticed today there is a new permanent digital sign that has been erected on the #1 eastbound just after the 1st Ave exit.

Testing is underway for the new #PortMannBridge system. As part of it, all Golden Ears transponders will beep when driving under the gantry.

Will Port Mann transponders work on the Golden Ears Bridge?

So i drive the entire project from 200 to the Iron Worker memorial, and I must say, what an impressive project.

The section in Surrey in particular is starting to look really good, and that entire stretch sure has a much more grand, true freeway / major metro feel to it. The Cape Horn Interchange alone is a huge project.

Also, the park and ride at 200th is coming along very well, saw they had a lot of the curbs / islands already in place.

Awesome pics! What a monster of a bridge, you should post them in the Canada section as well

Never noticed the south tower crane is gone. Really feels like they could have this bridge open before December if they wanted to.

Nice pics. It'd be cool to see some more pics from around the project for those of us that don't live in BC. Thanks.

That's still the plan, the sooner they open the sooner the province starts collecting tolls.

Is phase one of the SFPR still on schedule to open at the same time?

There are about 8 webcams along the project that show pictures updated every 15 minutes, in high resolution imagery.

http://wcs.pbaeng.com/projects/PMH1

Looks like pre-marking for the lanes on the new port mann bridge is beginning (for real this time).

Looks like you can see the 2 collector lanes, 3 express lanes for the WB direction, although this doesn't appear to be ultimate because the bridge will open up with 4 lanes either direction at first.

I heard that the pedestrian/bike lane will be open in December from the Port Mann representatives at Surrey's Fusion Fest. I wonder how they will accomplish this with the missing section of bridge. Temporary barricades? The path is supposed to be on the east side.

I believe so. The most difficult part seems to be on the Delta side around the Alex Fraser bridge eastward. At least when I drive that stretch it looks like they have the most work left to do there. Most of the rest was not as difficult. They're also moving along fairly nicely with the Hwy99 interchange.

Excellent, thanks.
That is good; I wonder what kind of improvements are being made on King George near the Patullo for right-turn/left-turn volumes that are sure to be increasing...

Also, If the first-phase ends at 136st, then I take it the route to the Patullo is follow 115 Avenue, then access the bridge via Bridgeview? That single left turn lane from KGB to northbound Bridgeview is going to be swamped all day.
