Witty,

You should get the Herald to write an article about the Peace Bridge using that awesome photo! Instead of the Herald ranting on the budget numbers all the time they could actually show what a great addition this is to Calgary!

Great shot! Nice how there's a pedestrian on the bridge perfectly centered.

That picture even makes the C-Train bridge look good, which says something about the picture.

I think it's a great idea. Last time I was on an SSP photo walk was about five years ago.

It would be nice to do a stroll around downtown and Eau Cliare snapping pics.

Me thinks Mac Logan and company are going to need to get a good lawyer. Graham wants more $$$$ for the peace bridge.

Quote:
Nearly a year after the $24.5-million Peace Bridge opened, city hall is trying to fend off paying extra to the project contractor that spent more than double the time it expected to complete the pedestrian crossing.

It’s an overrun the transportation department has long resisted, and knows council will be extremely reluctant to cover.

Mac Logan, the city’s transportation general manager, confirmed Graham Infrastructure has formally demanded compensation beyond its $17,995,000 “fixed price” contract.

With the City getting into pissing contests with transportation construction firms, how many firms are out there. For example the City looks like they are in a private battle with Aecom over 96th Ave NE & Airport Trail; now its Graham construction and the peace bridge. Who else could bid on the projects if the city disqualifies these two companies because they are in court battle over previous contracts?

What is Graham's reasoning for not wanting to pay the extra cost? from what I've heard it's their fault as they hired the crappy Spanish fabricator.

Graham did I believe. I don't think the city signed off on the work in Spain, if they did the cost should be split 50/50.

I don't see why the city would have been involved in inspecting the work done in Spain. The city would only inspect for it's final signoff.
