Does anyone who actually lives in London feel like going out and snapping a few photos?

Why? Are the mods taking it away or something?

This must be the only Local forum with more members living outside the region than in the region.

Yeah, its quite sad - although I wouldn't give up on it yet. It takes some time to grow and attract members to a devoted sub-forum.

compare to the waterloo(ney) local a year or so ago, when the world waited with bated breath on the new 3 storey building anchored by Shoppers' Drug Fart in downtown waterloo, or the famous barrel yards. Waterlooinvestor was the biggest homer in the annals of SSP.

I must admit, activity in the London sub-forum has picked up considerably over the past few months.

It's surpassed Waterloo in terms of busyness, and coming close to Hamilton.

Hamilton was buzzing a few years ago, and now it's pretty quiet.

What are we, like 3 posts per day averaged? Pretty sad when that's active lol but I guess it's better than nothing.

I've always hoped to see the London local flourish. I'm not aware of another site devoted to London urban issues. A lot of Hamilton and Waterloo forumers migrated to raisethehammer.org and [forum name shall not be spoken on SSP]. These online discussions are good for cities, I know for sure that the Hamilton online community has raised awareness and had some influence in that city.

Wait, is the one what shall not be named Wonderful Waterloo? If it is, you should know that the creators of that site made a site called Love London recently, a site devoted to London and area.

http://www.lovelondon.ca/

Problem is that the site is dead. Although this might be because it's new, but I think there's a general lack of interest in the L-dot community. Most people in my program (taking urban planning / urban development courses at UWO and Fanshawe) weren't even aware of them until I mentioned it in a discussion. If urban geography students can't be easily attracted to London's online community, than it tells you how difficult it would be go get your average internet forum-er on here.

I checked London's Skyscraperpage section for a year or two before I joined.. looking at the pictures and whatnot. I registered at skyscrapercity first, and eventually made an account here as well. The difference between the two is that London has a thread on Skyscrapercity, whereas it has it's own section on Skyscraperpage.

yeah. But it used to be 1 post per 3 days, or less.

I check in here daily to read, and occasionally comment - although I live in BC now - London always will be home, and I'll usually back here 3-4 times a year anyway to visit family & friends.

Actually back right now once again, although I was last here about 3 weeks ago - so not much has changed, other than Lowe's opening up by Hyde Park & Fanshawe Park Roads.

I've noticed a lull in the regional section lately.

When I first registered it was like 3 or 4 posts per day, now I'm lucky if there's 1!

Ya it's been pretty dead here... Although I have seen posters from this local section in the Canada forum.

Just wondering if anyone here knows of other London-related sites on the web. The others I know of are Lovelondon and the London thread on Skyscrapercity, and those are even more dead than this one. Anyone know of others?

^I don't really know of many others. Most Londoners aren't to keen on this stuff.

The Smart Moves forum isn't taken seriously at all, Lovelondon would be nice if there were more posters, and I don't really go on to Skyscrapercity. I'd been well acquainted with this website by the time I went on to SSC, and I didn't really like it. Here you've got diagrams at your fingertips, and the forums seem kinda more organized. Besides, I figure I only have time to spend on one of them, so I decided to register here!

It's nice to have a place to discuss local matters, which is why I like this sub-forum. Around 3 or 4 posts per day is fine with me, because the London forumers always have intellegent, insightful, and humerous comments to make.

I'm sure it'll pick up.

From my experiences, this site is the busiest for london-related development; which is not saying much, but there it is.

I would like to see a reduction in the number of subsections here. I never go through each of the 12 or so london subforums; I just check the most recent posting list.
