As I have got more entangled in the HSR thought, I have now expanded my plan to involve a HSR backbone (including gas pipelines and high speed fibre internet links) from Steinkjer to Hamburg, Bergen/Stavanger to St Petersburg (and hopefully Moscow), Trondheim - Østersund - Stockholm and Jutland to Kalmar. This would unify Scandinavia and make it ready for a knowledge based, green economy, while reducing the need for main international airports in the region from 5 (Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki and St. Petersburg) to 2 (Gothenburg and St. Petersburg) and an airport in Østersund would cut the need for most domestic airports in proper Scandinavia (SE, NO and DK) to almost zero. As Norway has two of the ten most flown air routes in Europe (Oslo - Bergen and Oslo - Trondheim) this would reduce emissions greatly. This is what I would like to work for in the future, and hopefully see with my own eyes one day. Basically, you could say, this is my attempt to make Scandinavia as great as Spain when it comes to train. (I'll add the map I made tonight of the plan).
Where this immense HSR enthusiasm comes from I don't really know, but my grandfather on my father's side was a railway man, while my great grandfather on my mother's side was the same. My dad has an interest for trains and other big transportation stuff (I do to, I have to admit that I like to read about planes on wikipedia :p). But the HSR enthusiasm I think grew out of myself. I only know that when I took the TGV in France, my heart melted.
PS! I also did my extended essay (the main essay in IB) about HSR (in economics).
