A freeway through the city would be a non-starter.

But looking at Google Earth it seems like there are multiple opportunities to build a connector at many points around Surrey or Langley. I assume it would be tolled and have no exits, and be sold as a relief for the truck traffic tearing down local streets. I guess a lot of traffic must go through Abbottsford in reality though.

Well if the USA wants to build a 4 lane limited access highway through Vancouver and up the coast to Alaska, go for it. Any of you ever actually look and see what the coast of BC has to offer?

Where the HELL would you even find enough level land to build a goat trail let alone an Interstate Highway? How many hundreds of billions you willing to spend? Go for it!

They should upgrade No. 8 Road in Richmond and Boundary Road in Vancouver to freeway status, with a bridge crossing the North Arm Fraser, connecting Hwy 91 with Hwy 1.
