Vulture City, AZ

This city was a gold mining town that excavated over $200,000,000 in gold and hasn't been lived in for over 60 years.

Very cool, looks like youve been doing a lot of traveling around AZ lately.

You might find this book interesting if you haven't seen it already:

Is there a reason you didn't take some of those bottles or furniture?

Vulture City is just NW of Phoenix, near Wickenburg. The Vulture gold mine was named after the town, or maybe it's vice versa.

BTW - Nice pics VJ.

This also leads into a question I have. No, not that you didn't take anything, but why hasn't someone? Knowing people - it seems amazing that someone hasn't vandalized the place. I've seen alot of ghost towns and most of those kinds of items (bottles, furniture etc.) are long gone.

It is well guarded and is maintained.

It looks much more eerie in the pics than it really is.

I have that book HooverDam and I was impressed by it. I bought it when I first moved to Tucson in 2006. It is amazing that some of these places are stuck in time and appear right out of an old western movie. I also like that the book has GPS info as well. Great pics john!

Very nice, never knew that was up there.
