Scottsdale, AZ

After my friend and I had to cancel the Flagstaff/Grand Canyon portion of our Arizona trip due to snow, we decided to get a hotel in Scottsdale for a couple of days. A nice city with several excellent restaurants, though, I've visited few other cities with more inconsiderate drivers.

If I'm not mistaken, the two highrises on the left are in Tempe

Nice pictures. Old Town looks nice, and it looks like a lot of people travel there; I see a Manitoba plate, and some crazy orange plate. I guess those are the snowbirds.

you are not mistaken. the two highrises on the left are in Tempe. They're the incomplete (stalled) Centerpoint Condo towers

Downtown/Old Town Scottsdale is a pretty nice place. It's got a high concentration of bars and clubs (didn't seem like you made it to that area of old town as much), restaurants, and a crap load of galleries/jewelry places. Great set of pictures.

Nice photos, thanks for sharing. One of the most extensive tours of Downtown and Old Town Scottsdale I've seen on SSP. Glad to see/hear you made the rounds and enjoyed your time...

Lots of familiar sights (my partner has family in Scottsdale); I know it's not a densely built traditional neighborhood but it has its charms

I like the development along the aqueduct there. It was just dirt back in the day. It looks really nice.

nice pictures but certainly not my type of place for living or retiring...definitely a unique place and you can tell you're in the desert, almost has a disney world feel to it!

No trip to the Sugar Bowl?

Sorry you missed out on Flagstaff/Grand Canyon. Our weather sucked most of December.

Is that a must stop? I've heard of the place several times ...

Last night I was at a bday party for a friend in a place back behind this walkway:

I decided it would be a good idea to jump up and pretend to dunk an imaginary basketball over one of those beams. Being dark, little did I know a nail head was sticking out, needless to say my hand bled a lot and I have a big cut now- doh!

Well, I hope there was some alcohol involved in that moment. Sorry for the reminder

I had a list of things given to me by friends I needed to see and visit while I was in Scottsdale, unfortunately, we didn't have enough time. But, it's a place I'd go back to for sure.

Thanks for all the comments!

Sadly I was sober as a bird, making it even more ridiculous.

Very nice pictures though

I think there is one shot I took of Main Street that you can kind of catch the Hotel Valley Ho at the end. We actually ate at Grazie down the street our first night and drove by after. Unfortunately, I had left my camera at the hotel since it had been raining all day. Of course it cleared up and I could have gotten some nice night shots! Oh well.

And we sort of skirted by Fashion Square in the morning after breakfast. But, it just seemed like any other high end mall and we wanted to see more of Scottsdale proper. Great city!
