San Francisco - Sunnyside

Sunnyside is small neighborhood that sits on the southern side of Mount Davidson (tallest point in SF at 925') and the Miraloma Park neighborhood, with Mission Terrace to the east, across interstate 280, the Glen Park neighborhood to the Northeast, Monterey Heights to the west, and city college and the neighborhoods of Westwood Park and Ingleside to the south. It's circled in blue here:

here's my Mission Terrace (circled in green) thread:

Sunnyside:

Westwood Park is a suburban style neighborhood, complete with winding roads and detached homes with little front lawns:

part of City College of SF rises in the background:

Looking towards Monterey Heights:

that's the city college science building in the background:

View from City College with Sunnyside in the foreground, Mission Terrace, Bernal Heights and the Bayview behind it, and the Oakland Hills and mount Diablo rising in the East Bay:

Next up is Ingleside and City College.

God, I hope I never have neighbors like the ones that posted those messages on that fence. That's pretty darn obnoxious!

Great photos though - i really enjoy seeing the less-visited hoods' of SF.

Great tour. I have friends who used to live just north of here - near the massive red and white communications tower that features in one of the pictures - brought back good memories. They lived in a house a bit like these - it was really great inside, with a spacious, bright living/dining room on the top floor.

Excellent tour. A lot of detail in your shots; I like that. And thank you for sharing that hilarious letter! I'm surprised I haven't seen that little spat show up on any of the local property blogs yet.

thanks! I took the pic of that letter in 2007 or 2008 (same with the rest of the pics, except for the dusk/night ones, which i took on Saturday)...that may be why you haven't seen it pop up on those blogs any time recently

I never knew the Oakland Raiders were so popular in San Francisco...

nice tour of a rather obscure neighborhood...

and I definitely support Carolyn Wade!

The raiders aren't that popular in SF, definitely not like the 49ers...but i guess it's inevitable there are some fans, being that Oakland is right next door and all. As far as the fence thing, me too. I'd also be pissed if someone was posting notes on my fence, and expecting me to communicate with them like that (and especially considering what the topic is).

If the 49ers move to the South Bay, the Raiders will be a lot more popular. And it's a fact that it's a lot easier to get to the Oakland Coliseum by public transportation (BART) from downtown SF than it is to get to Candlestick Park (no rail transit goes there--special busses only).

Interesting pictures. Those southern neighborhoods are places mostly only people who live there go. In 28 years in SF, can't say I've ever been on Foerster St.

Those were some very interesting pictures of a neighborhood that is seldom, if at all, photographed.

Thanks!!
