You know I had this one image I wanted to post, but didn't want to start a new thread. Good timing!

New York from The Fifth Element has always been my favourite. I remember watching that movie as a kid and just being blown away by the cityscape. It's pure fantasy and I think that might be why it strikes me as so realistic, you know? I watch that film today and it has the same effect on me as it did back then, which says a lot.

Works of Otomo Katsuhiro (manga artist) have beautifully detailed, gritty, concrete architecture. I have an Akira artbook in front of me with lots of great examples but unfortunately I can't find much on Google.

Look at one of those NYC shots from 5th element, and notice Brooklyn Bridge! I guess they must have drained the east river or something messed up like that.

Already had the first one as my desktop background, but thanks to you I've got the second one as the background on my second screen (i.e. my TV).
however: remember to give sources for pics posted!
