Nice pictures. Where in the city is that old frontier-style wooden house (the one before the scooter woman picture)?

No, these are from the archives. A few of them are actual black and white film, most are from my old digital point and shoot camera.

Houston and 50 other places that start with H

I'm just trying to lure in the Houston forumers, guess it worked!

179 Mary St. very close to downtown.
This is one of the oldest surviving houses in Hamilton proper, can't remember the date.

It's called Raich House. It was built sometime in the 1840s, possibly 1845.

^^Thanks astroblaster.

It's not as old as I thought, there are many earlier houses in Hamilton.

I thought this was about Houston.
Do people really refer to Hamilton as H-town? I would think not, but since the "let-down" wasn't about Houston, I'm good.

Nice set, though. I'd like to see it in color, but would probably look better in b/w anyways.

Pretty much anyone in southern Ontario would assume Hamilton if H-town came up. The Hammer would work too, as well as probably Steeltown, or a handful of less complementary epithets. Some of the latter which my town might share.

This is all in the context of Upper Canadian usage, as Houston may as well be Oz from this far away, and Pittsburgh neighborly but not a daily concern.

Did I get it right?

Unhappy Flar don't live in that H-Town no more

Fantastic blast of the Dan to accompany - this thread is what every 70s cop show aspired to be.

Love how the old lettering is showing on this building - like it's coming back from the grave!
