Is that around Liverpool 8?

Besides you wouldn't think it was deprived in the city centre especially with all that development going on, and did it not get the Cultural Capital city of Europe for 2008 or something...

looks like the scene of an american style homicide!

it's definitely got the telltale signs of a distressed nabe...litter, overgrown grass in vacant lots or grass coming up in the sidewalk, etc.

all in all, it looks like it could be a comfortable neighborhoods fairly easily.

Looks terrible!

Is the area scheduled for demolition or do people actually live there?

Oh and what is anti-vandal and anti-climb paint?

Reminds me of poorer parts of Baltimore or Philly, but not quite as decayed. Particularly reminds me of West Baltimore.

And I had no idea that Everton played in the hood. Very interesting!

Yeah, Liverpool has yet to fully recover from the Winter of Discontent and the advent of containerization. It has not gotten to the point where you can say it is in a "recovered phase", like you might about Manchester, Sheffield or Leeds, and today has the same population as it did in 1870. Manchester has managed to reposition itself as a "desirable" place and has received a fair amount of jobs from companies looking to balance their London heavy operations... Leeds is where Asda is headquartered and has a big tech and banking sector... Sheffield produces more steel than it ever did during its supposed hey day.

Liverpool had managed dramatic job growth in the 2000's, but I am not sure how much that is reversing with the recession. I wish it well because some of my family lives nearby in the Wirral, and they always talk about how slow things are to change there.
