Minus, the sunlight and then you have a Manhatten stylez shot. Get some towers blocking that blue sky and sunshine, and youre cooking New York City style..

Toronto or Montreal. Vancouver doesn't resemble New York in any way. Calgary with its office tower canyons actually looks more like New York than Vancouver.

I don't see anything that screams New York in that shot. It's just too glassy and modern.

These two shots of Trump scream 'Manhattan' to me:

By: Mo-tage on UT (February 15, 2010)

By: tomms on UT (January 7, 2010)

The streetwall in that second picture will really solidify once the Shangri-La (214m), 100 John Street (135m), Bay-Adelaide East (196m), and Richmond-Adelaide III (183m) are built, not to mention Trump (282m) itself.

Ha, Montreal will have its revenge when the time is right..... we'll make Vancouver & Calgary jealous with all our new 30-40-50-60-storey towers

That makes me think, this is one of the main reasons why skyscraper construction threads seem so Toronto-centric:

The #2 city, Montreal, has nearly abandoned skyscraper construction, and then #3 and #4 are way smaller than #1, so it's pretty hard for them to compete against TO's domination

Back in the mid ninetys to late 90's Calgary and Montreal were the champs of skyscraper construction in Canada. We're just playing catch up now.

EPIC sounds better than nice -imo.... I would use nice instead but it doesn't seem as "EPIC!"

Toronto has some serious density in its downtown core in certain places (financial district) , but there are many strips of downtown that lack the "New York" feel quite a bit...

Toronto's sheer size is understandable due to its population, we get way more goodies (skyscrapers) compared to other canadian cities....

But like WhipperSnapper said, there are a whole buncha new buildings (built in the past 30 years or so) in those shots... Manhattan's got tons of older buildings due to its ancient history..

Trump Tower in Toronto was inspired by Manhattan skyscrapers as Trump said in one of his youtube videos... We are Americans in denial!

And i don't see any taxicabs in those shots i don't think!

you need to visit Vancouver more... while the height is not there, the canyons and traffic and pedestrians sure are.

I believe that should be: Jamieson's gaudy DISCO inspiration.

But jokes aside, in my opinion Jamison would fit quite nicely just off Broadway near Times Square. I think it very much matches Manhattan's aesthetic of the last 20 years.

That photograph as a whole does not make me think New York, but Jamieson certainly does. Manhattan loves overly fussy glass boxes with cheater spires stuck on top. That just screams New York to me.

Somewhat true but, I just don't see it with Jamieson. Jamieson looks like something straight out of Melbourne.

The skyline looks like Manhattan and some of the historical parts but the new towers, their canyons are anything but Manhattanesque.

Dude, I got the height part. I guess by your def every city counts as Manhattanesque. There's a reason they call it "Vancouverism" after all.

^not at all.

Toronto is obviously most akin to parts of manhattan.

but Vancouver feels like a lot of manhattan if you do not tilt your head more than 45 degrees.
