I just don't see it no matter how I tilt my head. There's a fundamental difference in the built form. For all the the height limits and view corridors, Vancouver's policy is still about building up rather than out. New York City even with it's jaw dropping height is still more about building out rather than up. By this I mean, you take the same good sized lot, with the same allowable density, nine times out of ten Vancouver will yield a taller building.

I'm shocked how much Vancouver & suburbs dominated during that period. Must not have been much going on in the rest of the country... especially considering that even Nanaimo made it on one year!

I look forward to Vancouver's 'Turn' starting up again. Will be another great addition to the skyline and add some much needed height. I'm a bit sad that there aren't anymore tall towers being proposed for Vancouver at the moment, though I'm hoping some new proposals will be made public after the Paralympics are over. Regardless, I think Surrey will help represent Metro Vancouver on this list in the years ahead. Lots of tall towers planned currently. Just hope they manage to become reality.

I used to live in Vancouver lol! I was talking specifically about the long canyons of wall to wall tall buildings. I get what you're saying about the pedestrian traffic, and agree with you. I just see more of New York in Calgary when looking at it strictly from a office building canyon point of view.

Totally shocking to see Kitchener on this list. How many years will we have to wait to get on it once more?

Vancouver Domination! I thought Calgary and Montreal were the stars back in the 90s. I was thinking about Bankers in Calgary, and Rene Leveques in Montreal.. But wow, how Vancouver, Kitchener, Niagara Falls dominated....

Toronto has alot more going on in the 2000s. Meaning Vancouve has to pull up its socks.

Toronto is not dominating the way Vancouver dominated in the 90's. Vancouver became a different city in the 90's, it became a city of condos and asian immigrants... those leaving hong kong before the Chinese takeover pushed those numbers way up...

Trump Toronto Pics posted by skyscraper03 over at SSC

Note how all the wonky floors of the parking garage are all covered in cladding now, so it just looks like a normal building under construction. I, for one, am glad for that. Those garage floors detracted from the true skyscraper form of this project until now. The wavy floors kept distracting me from seeing the bigger picture.

*For the nitpickers out there... All the parking EXCEPT the first two floors are covered!

Ya know... I just noticed they are building the Bow in the real classic steel beam construction... Hold on, Hold on... don't say "Duh" just yet. What I mean is.... there is no concrete core for the elevators and stairwells the way most steel 'scrapers are built these days. Just look at Eighth Avenue Place; concrete core with steel floors and exterior walls. Just like Bay Adelaide was built in Toronto.

Whereas Bow is being built like an old timer. Like the Empire state building or World Trade Center or even First Canadian Place in Toronto. The elevator core is made of steel and it rises with the building.

Just an observation.

Pfluggen! Fokka! Flicken!

Those shots of Trump show they have finally, finally, installed that piece of the cladding on the north side corner, so we can get an idea how this will look when the exterior moves to the more glassy variety as it moves towards the sky. A very classic skyscraper with thorough twist...

The glass within glass framing on the Bow looks fantastic. I love the cladding here, now this is how the exterior cladding should have looked. More classy, less cartoony.

I think they could of done a better job with concealing the uneven floor heights. Not a fan of the different sized punches.

Trump just isn't inspiring me. At all. Maybe once it climbs taller?

well... as it starts climbing taller, the granite cladding will switch to curtain wall glass.

I think it's a matter of opinion... Cause I just love the Four Seasons Toronto cladding, while others like Trump.

I think the granite wall on Trump looks amazing. Also how many buildings going up in Canada these days use stone cladding? Hardly any.

EAP looks very impressive, definitely prefer its cladding over the Bow's. The cladding looks similar to the B-A centre. Wish we could trade it for that building.
