Wow who'd of believed that the former suburb of Etobicoke is about to leapfrog in with the giants of Canada thanks to this 216m/708ft high giant;

why did you add burrard?

burrard is part of DT Vancouver and the gateway will be in the downtown cluster.

Did you mean Burnaby? It's tallest will be sovereign at 156 meters.

But yes I totally agree with ur thoughts on Eau de Soleil. Love the design and the use of lines... and the fact that it will be an insanely tall tower miles from the core.

Here's a massing study (crude in sketchup) I just did for 50 Bloor West (Holts site--note it's my idea, not the official elevations.)

More ideas of mine at urbantoronto

I thought that one was shot down, or at least isn't likely to go through as is.

I think most of the concern regarding the project was at the podium level.

Excavation is about to start at Chaz. The picture is pretty large:

A reminder of the rendering:

http://www.mychazcondo.com/building-features/

Note that the rendering does not include the recent addition of 8 floors, some of which were inserted above the "box", as per the recent renderings in the Condo Guide ads.

Would that box be common area or the most killer 2 storey living room?

It will be amenity space:

It includes a demonstration-style cooking area and has room to "dine" 20 guests.

You know, with all this development, it makes me wonder if Toronto is going to make a big ass office tower. With all these condominium developments you would think they'd balance it out to make sure that all these new people moving in would have a place to work

There are 11 >100m office towers currently proposed or u/c, plus a few more mixed-use ones.

A large condo building houses 700. A smallish office building like RBC's new tower will have 10,000 employees.

It's possible that more people will work at Aura, Canada's Tallest residential building in the podium retail/office and services for the condo iteself, than will live there.

The Mall in Aura will be big...

There is no doubt about that. There will be alot of people employed.

If you're talking about buildings that offer employment rather than residential space, you can't just talk about office and retail. The Sick Kids Research Tower and Mars 2 will both be significant employment hubs within the medical and scientific industries.
