You can view the second part of my New York series here: New York - II
I was pretty nervous about posting these since they are rather touristy, but hey!
The last time I was in New York was 24 years ago when I was diapers and apparently got my parents separated from the group we were with and lost on the subway since they couldn't pack up my stroller in time to get on it. Ha.
I left Philadelphia's 30th Street station and took the Amtrak to New York's Penn Station. And here we go!
On the first day, I took a boat ride around Manhattan:
Jersey City
I think the following three images are Brooklyn
United Nations headquarters
Turns out, the "C" is for Columbia - as in Columbia University
Going back to the pier
Back on land
From the top of the Empire State Building
A scene from Gossip Girl was being filmed on the deck
My camera is not that great at night. Ha!
Oh yeah. In Times Square, I randomly wandered into a Black Eyed Peas show. Ha. This was as close as I got. The primary area in front of the stage wasn't very big - I was about 75 feet from the stage - and anything beyond that was blocked off - so the thousands of the rest of us were left watching the screen. Turns out it was just a promo show for Samsung.
The massive amounts of people as we were being herded/corralled out of the area after the show.

I liked them, you captured some really cool shots from the boat tour. One thing I always find funny is how some folks who live so close to NYC, but seldom visit, or not at all.
If I lived anywhere in the northeast I would be in New York at least once a month.
I had a blast. One of the best weeks of my life. Thanks!

Thanks! I just moved to DC from Texas, so I'm planning going again in June or July when an Aussie friend will be in the country.

And in St. Louis that building is a big deal for the skyline. But in NYC is so forgettable.
NYC is so big and amazing.
it's not really a big deal for such a weird and spread out skyline, i don't know where that is exactly, but you are right, NYC is amazing. Loved the thread.

If I recall correctly, a portion of this high-rise is a High School?
I love the uber slim condo on the mid left here... i sat in the square and just admired it along with the Flatiron for an hour or so.

On my first trip to New York, I took the boat ride around Manhattan and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Back then, the World Trade Center was standing and the Colgate clock was actually on the old plant building in Jersey City. They demolished the building, but they saved the landmark clock/sign.
