This will be the second time the country has hosted the competition,

after Mexico, Italy, France and Germany.

If Costa Rica manages to qualify AND they draw a game in Manaus, consider my ticket punched! Plus that stadium looks terrific. No doubt Brazil will host an amazing tournament.

well, Brazil hosted the World Cup in 1950 and didnt won. In fact, its the only World Cup Winner that never won a World Cup at home. (Uruguay 1930 (1st title), Italy in 1934 (1st title), England in 1966 (first title), Germany in 1974 (2nd title), Argentina in 1978 (1st title) and France in 1998.

with exception of Germany, all other world cup nations won their first cup at home. France is the only one that only won at home at their second home World Cup.

if Brazil wins in 2014, it will be our 6th (or 7th, depending on South Africa) title and the first at home, on the second time we host a World Cup.

how much is this going to cost and can brazil afford it, i see today that france got euro 2016 and even though they only held the WC 12 years ago and have all the facilities in place they are still planning to spend 1.7bn euro or over $2bn on renovations

It seems that Brazilians are putting a lot of effort for the FIFA World Cup. Brazil is my favorite team and I wish I could travel there to be a part of this mega event.
