Rotterdam Apr-Jun 2010

All photos taken Apr and June 2010.

Hoek van Holland
A separate district of Rotterdam at the North Sea, with a population of 9,000.

1. Entrance to the Port of Rotterdam.

Maas Tower
Visiting the Maas Tower, Netherland's tallest building (541 feet / 165 meters).

24. SS Rotterdam, built in 1959 in Rotterdam as a transatlantic liner for the Holland-America Line.


25. After retirement in 2000 she was restored and now houses a hotel, restaurants and meeting facilities.

Another excellent thread. This photo was particularly striking. I also liked a lot of the historic buildings. Rotterdam seems well known for it's modern architecture, but it also seems to have still a decent amount of older buildings. What are the regular vibrant urban districts and urban shopping streets in Rotterdam? I've only heard of the Lijnbaan/Oude Binnenweg pedestrian malls, the info about this seems very limited compared to say Amsterdam where there is lots (Jordaan, Leidsestraat, Kalverstraat, Rembrandt Sq, etc.).
