Construction in front of Home Depot on Lacewood

Anyone have an idea what is being built in front of Home Depot on Lacewood? There are fences up and some digging happening, but I see no signs.

I never looked into it but I remember there being a planning case about the Lacewood Home Depot on HRM's website so I'd look there first.

I don't see anything at halifax.ca/planning. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Thanks to spending way too much time on HRM's website looking up information I managed to figure out where to find the report on this;

According to the map in that document it is a seprate parcel owned by "Lacewood Holdings Inc.". A simple search of that firm shows a Michael Power as Principal.

No clue, anybody have any thoughts? The parcel calls for an L-Shaped building, probably minor retail or some sort of restuarant.

It's likely a Tim Horton's After all, it's a whole 750m to the one in Bayer's lake and almost 1.5km to the one at Lacewood and Dunbrack.

Really though... I hope it's a restaurant with cheap lunch food. I work nearby and there's isn't a whole lot within a short walk. Chicken and breakfast food gets old fast!

I just read the PDF from the Halifax site a bit more. On page 21, it says a Mr. Michael Power (previous page says he owns "the lot in front of Home Depot") plans to "build a medical clinic on this lot".

There is a Dr. Michael Power who works at Lacewood Medical Clinic next door in the plaza with Smitty's. Maybe they're moving.

That would be sweet... anything to enclose that corner would help make that area feel a bit less like parking lot ville.

I've done some research and I found a Michael Power who is associated with Moxie's? Could it be a Moxie's?

Its possible I suppose. They expanded into DC a couple of years so it wouldn't surprise me if they expanded into an even larger market across the harbour.

I've never been to the one in Burnside but based on my experience at two in Calgary I'd say the chain is good for its price (not as good as Earl's but still good).

Nice, I will definitely go there next time I'm back in Halifax and around BL.

Not a big fan of sushi, but would definately visit if it was Moxie's. Now they make a great shaker martini! Appletini - yum!

I typically visit the Moxie's here on 17th Avenue or the one at the Sandman hotel on 7th Avenue. Both have great service.

This is a medical center. Has doctor's offices on the upper two floors & looks like a bit of a pharmacy on the ground floor.

There's a sushi restaurant moving into the space previously occupied by that wine store.
