So I love it. And the lush green is what really seals the deal for me. The majority of trees here a far beyond simply budding or flowers. The cottonwood, alder and birch forests are lush with greenery now.

I am sure the largest heat wave in March history, coupled with one of the warmest winters ever on record has helped the east this year in being ahead of schedule.

But again, I love my West Coast Cherry Blossoms Sakura festival last weekend was great.
Things here are way ahead of schedule, most flowering trees are done flowering now, and most trees are leafed out and green. Even the flowering Florida dogwoods are flowering now, and our cherry trees are in full bloom as well.

I knew you would be excited about this....however, with the relative dryness of the air, and the wind and the fact that the sun is not that strong at this time of year, I wouldn't put on the a/c in a house..trap some of that warmth and then keep the heating at bay when it gets colder in a few days.

I haven't put the A/C on because I love heat but know some people who have.

BTW- A dew point of 14C is far from "dry". That 34% humidity is misleading because the actual temperature is pretty high.
The mid-April sun on the 45th parallel is pretty damn strong.

The humidex reading would actually be pretty close to Calgary's all-time high.

28C and a mix of sun and clouds today... The low tonight was 14C so that was a great starting point. Our official temperature was 28.9C so we did break the 28.7C record from 2002.
Yesterday's low of 9.6C also barely broke a record... previous one was 9.4C from 2002.

All this heat is awesome but we do need some rain, the first half of April is the driest on record with only 6.6 mm.

The Canadian warmspot was Huntingdon, Quebec at 31.4C. That is the first 30C temperature in Canada this year.
Sainte Clothilde and Varennes, Quebec were also above 30C.

Huntingdon also recorded a humidex of 34C which is the highest recorded this year in Canada.

The temperature reached 27c in Quebec City yesterday. It was the third consecutive day of record temperature and it beat the previous record by a "mere" 6c.

This spring has been so dry that I saw topsoil blowing across the highway near London, Ontario.

The last couple weeks have been wonderful in St. John's. It was about 16C yesterday, and I went for a long walk in just a t-shirt (16km). We've hit 20C today, but I'm stuck in the house studying.

Windsor's earliest is April 22nd
Medicine Hat's earliest is April 20th
Kamloops' earliest is April 24nd
Winnipeg's earliest is April 18th
Estevan's earliest is April 20th
Regina's earliest is April 20th

However, it is not a record... the Huntingdon weather station recorded 31.1C on April 14th, 1968.
It had a 30.0C temperature on April 16th, 2002 as well.

Although the 31.4C yesterday might have been the highest recorded so early. Who knows?

Interesting how many of those April 30s happen in the prairies, which supposedly don't get "real" springs and summers.

Osooyoos probably would be up there, but I don't know if they're showing every little spot. Lytton is another place that might be.

We haven't had a real spring the last few years it seems like. Statistically speaking Calgary actually has the same or higher average daily high temp than many of these places that have been getting the hot weather this year.
