Yes. Is this project going through with, and where would the NEW location be is what I am asking. The proposal on the Fielding Nair site is at least 3 years old so I am assuming no, or not very soon...

They purchased the mall so I expect the project to build new has been shelved:

The Regina Trades and Skills Centre (RTSC) have purchased the Turner Crossing Mall on Albert Street for $4.6 million. RTSC, which offers pre-trade training courses, is currently located in the Turner Mall. (Leader Post, May 28, 2010) http://www.enterprisesaskatchewan.ca/enr052810

So I have thought about this before, and would like to see what everyone else has to say about the idea. If even possible, ever, this wouldn't happen for many many years, but do you think it's a good idea or even possible to eventually damn off Wascana creek on either ends of Regina, to create another lake? Either a SE extension of Wascana park or a completely new NW park with lake included. Dreaming big here!

I remember a long time ago there was a site with a development map of that old abandoned cement pipe factory out by the treatment plant on pinkie road. I cannot find it now so I guess you won't be able top post anything about it. All I remember is that is was going to be new industrial land with lots. But you could add the inter model hub and loblaws. When I went to moose jaw a last month, Pinkie road and highway 1 interchange could be added. I would guess that this is still in the design phase but I'm pretty sure they are building it so that the new road connects up too highway 1 like with ramps while they build up the dirt between it. I remember seeing the proposed neighborhood plan for the land east of the sgi salvage center on the city website. And last, that building across from the old army and salvation building broad and 11th that now is called broad crossing I guess. They where going to add a third floor and stucco the exterior so it looked the same as broad crossing.

Also long time lurker first time poster, plz forgive grammar skills.

I haven't heard of this, but I really hope it isn't true.

I have been looking at the diagram page for a while now. Why are all the towers in Regina that are proposed, under construction or built 10 or 20 meters short of 100 meters. Is there a height restriction. Is it the soil conditions. How far down is the bed rock in Regina. I'm pretty sure Winnipeg has the same soil conditions as us and yet they have towers over 100 meters.

The bedrock is hundreds of metres down. I understand it much more expensive to build the foundation for a tall tower in Regina than it is in Calgary or down east. You are probably right that Winnipeg is the same.

Capital Pointe is building a 40ft deep foundation (parking garage) and Mosaic Tower will have a 20ft deep foundation plus pilings.

This happened in China recently. Note the puny pilings.

That is an awesome picture of the building in China. We just have to remember that yes China is booming, but people still have to grasp the idea that boom ALSO mean intelligence.

Nice to see Regina's Skyscraper page getting to Sticky #2, I know I check this page daily! On a side note, no matter what part of the province your from.... GO RIDERS GO!

Has anyone heard of Wascana Willows? I found this when looking up homes in Pilot Butte, where a related subdivision is going up.

I edited my earlier posts about foundations as I used metres instead of feet. Regarding bedrock depth in the Regina area, I understand that tall building foundations will extend down beyond the Regina clay into the glacial till but actual hard bedrock is nowhere near reachable.

Wow! I leave this site for a few days, and Wow! You've done a great job highlighting all the construction that's going on here, A4Regina! Umm ... Where can I find the Regina Construction (I) Thread? I sort of missed keeping up on the last few pages before this new thread started!

Hello from the beautiful city of and the heart of Downtown Vancouver! Can't wait to get back home to a (pretty well) guaranteed White Christmas! -- after we enjoy a bit more of this balmy, on/off again sunny/rainy weather!

See you soon!

Are you still up, Stormer? There's a 2 hour difference, now!

you need an account which you have, there is a previous thread link on the fist post. Underneath the Regina panorama picture below the Saskatchewan text.Speaking of accounts, does anyone have a diagrams account. Would it be worth while to attach the capital pointe thread to the capital point diagram.

Gord Goddard brought post cards to City Hall showing Davin Fountain in its heyday. (Courtesy Gord Goddard)
The City of Regina is looking at restoring what was once a prominent landmark, but is now a rusting relic — the Davin Fountain.

Named after the founder of the Regina Leader-Post and local MP Nicholas Flood Davin, it was installed in the centre of Victoria Park a century ago.

It survived the 1912 cyclone and in the 1920s was moved to Rotary Park, where it remained for more than 70 years.

The last six years, it has sat in a city storage yard behind a chain-link fence.

The years have not been kind: the paint is peeling and the iron structure is streaked with rust. The aquatic birds that once adorned the middle section are missing.

Local historian Gord Goddard says he was out riding his bike one day when he spotted the fountain and was upset to see the state it was in.

I've driven by that fountain a lot, never knew it was part of Victoria park, it behind the old GM factory on Winnipeg street, near the turn off for the impound yards or what ever there called.
