I assume he was joking. If you are travelling from the North Regina to the University for example, or from SE Regina to the refinery or Evraz for example, or if you are driving a semi, you do not really have any practical options.

Every summer for at least 5 months, part of the Ring Road is down to one lane for bridge rehab. Agreed this has to be done, but it should not take 5-6 months.

This year both the Ring Road north and the Assiniboine Ave flyover will be under construction. I will let you know in October how they did.

Me Joking? No. Not at all. If the 5-10 Minutes are an issue you can take this little road just to the west of the Ring Road called Park Street.

Do you have a better solution to how the work is done? I take it you are in the business of concrete structure rehabilitation and know everything to know about the task at hand. Am I correct?

I just see how it is done in Calgary and Houston. Park Street is a disaster at rush hour. Now I am not talking about me here. I don't use that section to go to work, although I do often use Assiniboine Ave and I am not looking forward to that being shut for a long period. It is only a single, one lane bridge, so I assume that won't take all summer and fall.

Best solution people: Get out of your cars! It feels liberating! Take other modes of transportation.

Agreed! Or at a minimum, car pool. It would be interesting (but not surprising) to know how many hundred people drive into downtown for 8 and leave at 5, all 1 person per vehicle.

I unfortunately have done that at points duing my career (my job requires that I have a personal vehicle). More recently I've really been thinking about how I commute to work. I'm beginning to make a stronger effort to take other modes. If it weren't for my job requirements I would bus/bike everyday.

Noticed yesterday that they where jack hammering the old entrance's/concrete curbs to the demolished yellow sewage pipe gas station at the old super store (city center now) Wondering if there getting ready to build the proposed strip mall there or the hotel.

The Hotels are supposed to be along Dewdney according to the site plan. The gas bar area is referred to as a "pad site", which could mean a strip or a box.

I bike from NW Regina (Courtney Street and Mapleford Gate) to the Queen Bldg at Wascana, takes me 40 minutes (depending on the wind) to get to work. We have vehicles at work that can be used if required. Maybe companies should start to look at having people communte in a leave vehicles at the company site to be used as required.

The provincial government should lead the way. They are the worst for the amount of parking spaces they have downtown. Just imagine if Saskpower cut the number of cars in their lot by about half (maybe a bit more) the former STC site could possibly handle their parking needs. Then their current enormous parking lot could be redeveloped...

Kudos to the City for requiring their contractor to open up all lanes of the Ring Road at Dewdney on the weekend when they are not working. I am not sure if they are also doing this at night.

Assiniboine Ave flyover closes May 16.

The dewdney ave overpass was open for a better portion of the day all week. Every time i would drive through, i would get into the far right lane upon approach, but only to see that all lanes were open. This has happened almost every day this week. I thought they just stopped construction.

Nothing much happening on the vacant lots of Regina lately and this board has been quiet since the election banter subsided. However, there is a new restaurant/pub being built in a new strip small on the lot in front of the Rochdale Home Depot. It is a chain out of BC called Brown's Social House and this is the only location, as yet, outside of BC. Looked on their website and looks somewhat interesting. Never been to one and don't know anyone who has, so hopefully, it is decent. Anybody know what is going into the building being constructed on the Victioria Square parking lot. Looks like it, too, could be a restaurant.

Dear British Columbia,

Please bring your excellent foresight and planning principle to Saskatchewan. Please help us create the vibrant, dense communities you have established in your fair province. On the contrary, please do not contribute suburban type development.....we do enough of that on our own.

Sincerely,

A Saskatchewan planning enthusiast.

Agree to more downtown development and such but if you are a new restaraunt coming to town do you build where there is already established competition (downtown, east end, south end) or do you build where there are not many choices but a lot of people (North end). This something that the north end needs because other wise our best choice will always be the Barley Mill. These guys look into also setting up near sports venues (official restaraunt of the Canucks) so don't be surprised to see a restaraunt downtown if/when a new facility is built.
