Well given how they're doing construction at Dunsmuir entrance, they seem to have plans to place it at the bottom of the escalators... just past the area where the elevators and hallway intersect but before the platforms. That area is a narrow choke point and I don't really agree with their design choice on the grounds that Dunsmuir is normally the only entrance kept open during special events. Otherwise, the small usage of the entrance might just justify having so few fare-gates at that location. But anyway... maybe they'll figure out that mistake after a year with the smart-cards and some large event in between.

With regards to the Dunsmuir location, it's the only possible place they can have fare gates! The elevator goes from the platform level, to both the street level and ticket concourse level, and unless there are separate fare gates for both these levels just for the elevator, it must be placed at the platform corridor level.

I don't agree that it is a "choke" point so to speak. That entrance still isn't used by a lot of people. I'm sure they can fit at least four fare gates going straight across, and if it is staggered, it can fit at least eight.

I walked by Stadium station this morning and saw the fare gate layout.
The 3 fare gates to be installed will be for the Keefer Plaza entrance only.
Either the layout is incomplete or there is another layout for the Beatty Street entrance which means the other fare gates will be installed at Beatty street?

Most likely, given the image. I think that also helps in making sure that the elevator is a fare paid zone. At the same time, there goes the possibly useful free tourist or commuter shortcut into Chinatown from Downtown...

EDIT: Nevermind, there is a second entrance just behind the station... arguably I'd still want to bulldoze that station house so the view is clearer for visitors and such, but such plans will have to wait for another day when I can draw it up.

The public access to Keefer Steps is actually to the north of the station. With the redevelopment of the building on the north side of that passage, it should be a friendlier place for pedestrians.

Stadium Station will have 3 entrances and all of them gated. there will be no more access to the indoor plaza/lost and found/smoke shop .... WITH OUT a valid ticket.

and yup OD is right the main access to the steps will still be open and soon have a redeveloped building fronting it.

ALSO I have to think that the Beatty Street side of Stadium Skytrain station is RIPE for a TOD. the former transit museum is junk up top and there is just a wast of space all around there for my liking.

That's it everyone, any postings of hoarding being put up without photos of the fare gate plans = BAN.

Are the plans for the stations really not available online anywhere?

Nope. You have to dig through thousands of pages of tenders to get architect level plans. No human readable plans on Translinks site.

Perhaps it might help as an interim solution to upload the photos of the station plans that are currently available to the front page?

Or take photos of the construction plan at the stations. If you can be there to notice that the hoarding is up, you can take a photo of the construction plan.

Okay, sure, but like I said.. that's dumb. Translink obviously has the plans, and since they're posting them on the hoarding, why not post them online as well?

Umm... because other than maybe 4 or so that slipped through the censor, none of the other station plans have been posted on the internet (even in the contracts and tenders section of the TransLink website).

It is possible for someone here to go to their office and claim to be bidding for their contracts so they can get their hands on the missing appendix/attachment that has the blueprints... but as far as I know, no one has done that. Isn't it also illegal to be misrepresenting yourself in that kind of situation... not to mention the violation of any clause of confidentiality that may have to be agreed upon?
