I said that line actually. I often write "me" instead of "my" in msn for some reason.

So I bitch and moan about Indianapolis not getting any rain this summer. Finally last night I get a good gully-washer at my house. However this was accompanied by vivid lightning. Alas it knocked out our satellite tv. It'll be a week before we can get a tech to come out. Looks like we will get a lot of shit done this week. At least there is netflix.

I was in Ossian (about fifteen miles south of Fort Wayne) when that hit -- torrential rain driven by winds that must have reached forty mph, with the sky almost continuously lit by lighting. Lots of very loud thunder, too. I'm suprised that I haven't heard reports of any houses or barns being set afire by all that lightning. Storms of that intensity usually only last a few minutes before they blow past, but this one went on for a long time. After it ended, we had one of the most spectacular sunsets I've ever seen.

My city didn't get hit by any storms because the northern edge of those things keeps fizzling out at the border for some reason. It's like this is a wall there or something. I blame NOAA for not including Canada on its maps.

Anyway, I'm thinking of changing my avatar to something a little more fresh:

May or may not include the word "Target". I am sure they don't want to be associated with me. Qu'en pensez-vous?

So this big cold front swept through the state last night. I in turn shut off the ac in the house. It's 86 in here and still muggy. Get's down to 60 tonight. I will stand my ground and keep the windows open.

I drove through Indiana about two weeks ago (I-69 then to 70, came back up through 65), and I drove through one of the heaviest raining storms I'd ever driven in right outside of Indy. It got so bad I had to pull off the freeway. It really kind of shocked me being from Michigan where we can get freak thunderstorms but obviously less frequently. It made me realize just how much the lakes and just being slightly further north can moderate the weather.

Try getting caught in one of those torrential downpours about fifty miles farther south, in the hilly limestone country around Bloomington and beyond. The rain comes down in bucketsful, and the hills and valleys funnel it into roaring flash floods. Fortunately they usually don't last long, and subside almost as quickly as they arose.

Robert has a good point. It can get dicey down there when it storms. The rains have been really random this summer. Everything is brown in my neighborhood. Had a co-worker drive up to Wabash, IN last week. He said everything was green up there.

Law can be very, very, very boring. And unless you're a prosecutor then you will not attend court daily. Being a lawyer is nothing like you see on TV or read in books AND the lawyers you work with are more strange/antisocial than in other careers.

I initially read your post as saying "So of course I got laid today..." I thought to myself great, if anyone needs to get laid it's SM, given all of the shit he has been going through. Then I re-read it a few minutes later and realized that getting laid off isn't as much fun as getting laid. Hang in there dude.

Getting laid? Fun.

Getting off? Also fun.

Getting laid off? Not fun at all.

Thats ridiculous.

per wiki

Quote:
In common usage, "ridiculousness" is used as a synonym for absurdity or nonsense. Historic and technical usage of "absurdity" associates it with invalid argumentation and reasoning.
While historic and technical usage of "ridiculous" associates it with laughter, superiority, deformity, and incongruity. Reductio ad absurdum is a valid method of argument, while reductio ad ridiculum is invalid.
Argument by invective declaration of ridiculous is invalid.

Probably something you guys never really realize, but when people use the short form of "video", it confuses me a lot.
