Blades is a town on the south shore of the Nanticoke River, directly across from the city of Seaford. The population is around 1,250.
Blades was named after James Blades, a Pennsylvania Railroad employee who operated a store near what is now the center of the town. The community was originally known as Bladesville until it was incorporated as a town in 1915.
