Very nice. perhaps this is how you planned it, perhaps not, but it's interesting how few motorized vehicles there are in each shot, compared with an American street scene.

Now, I wonder why there are metal cages over the windows on a home in Zurich? Is that to keep someone in? I mean I don't see that a lot in St. Louis.

^--- Haha you know, for some reason I spent the most time looking at this pic, but I never even noticed the bars on the windows. I was just thinking how dark it must be inside with all those tiny windows.

Awesome set, Switzerland is where I want to visit the most out of all places I haven't been yet. Zurich, Bern, Geneva... they all look amazing.

Those cages are to stop the burglars. Are quite usual in many european cities... When I was you I remember almost everyone who lived at the first floor had some... Today aren't as many as then... but there still are.

Anyway... Zurich is far for 2nd best city in the World... even Bern is more beautiful in my opinion.

Lovely pics.

I remember being in Zurich a couple of years ago and remarking how unbelievably charming the city was. I forgot it was a large banking center walking around the Old City. It was like one of those EPCOT Center "lands."

Great tour, looks like a lovely but quiet city.
So what's the best city in the world? Vancouver?

Vancouver does top a lot of these livability polls, but I think this one, as Milkdrinker suggests, was won by Vienna.

Zurich is very quiet for a city of over 300,000 (over 1m metro area). The main complaint from people who emigrate there is that so many of the shops close at 5pm sharp, so it is relatively dead in the evenings - however, there are busier streets that I didn't get round to photographing.

It wasn't planned, but that's a very accurate observation - even by European standards, public transport is super popular in Zurich.

Very nice. The level of quality is top notch in every direction. My only question is, what's with the lack of people in this city? I never seem to see any. Was it the weekend?

Just curious. I assume there are lots of well dressed people somewhere...

I love the cobblestone roads... I wish there were more of them on this side of the Atlantic. The architecture is stunning and very well maintained. Excellent tour...
