Talking Adventure through Charleston, WV with my iPhone

Sorry, this isn't professional, just iPhone pics. So it's summer, I've been couch surfing and wasting time in Charleston for no real reason. I have a lot of friends here, so I just ended up here. Charleston is the capital and largest city of West Virginia (metro pop. ~304,000). Sorry for the lack of pedestrians, it was mostly a Sunday with bad weather. On weekdays, downtown is filled with people. I've really grown to appreciate and love this city. It seems to grow on everyone.

I've driven through on the interstate many times, but never knew how charming the tree-lined streets are. Thanks!

Thanks for showing us the pictures. I, too, have seen Charleston flying by on the freeway. And always wanting to stop, but never have. If I am going that way, it means I have a long way to go and no time to play around. Anyway, it always looks intriguing from the highway and in it's beautiful setting. Nice to see some street level views.

It really is a gem (that is only a little over 2 hours from me).

I always loved driving through I-64 from Huntington to Charleston, a nice stretch through civilization as you travel from one side of the Appalachians to the other.

How is the downtown mall?

The mall is fairly decent and has stores I like (Buckle, Hollister, A&F, etc.) and is convenient. It also has the cheapest parking downtown ($1.85 ALL DAY!) while other places charge $6/hr.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Glad to see you enjoy it. I love it here.

This is my friend's porch view at night in Charleston's South Hills:

Awesome!

Its such an easy place to overlook, if it wasn't the capital and largest city in it's state most would never have heard of it.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments. I'm finally home! It was a fun time and I can't wait to do something similarly crazy again. Sorry for the delay, I'm not the best at checking things.

Thanks!
