Hey, at least it wasn't spelled "Picksburg".

Even bigger pet peeve when I hear people who were born and raised here say that.

When I look at the renderings that view from the south, the tower looks as if it would surpass both One Oxford (615') and even barely One PPG place (635') despite what could be slightly higher elevation and/or perspective.

Anyone know how accurate these representations tend to be?

My hope was that it reach 200 meters which I believe is just over 650'. It looks like it'll be a bit shy of that mark.

Well, Roethlisberger has thrown 6 picks so far this season.

Anyways, this is a nice addition.

Very interesting article on how PNC secretly acquired the various properties for this project:

How PNC secretly acquired the parcels for its
new downtown headquarters

by Sean D. Hamill, Pittsburgh Quarterly ; Winter 2012

There were no hidden tape recorders, car chases or safe houses involved, but you can almost hear the theme music from “Mission Impossible” when Gary Saulson, PNC’s director of corporate real estate, describes the steps he took to veil PNC’s purchase of almost a block of downtown Pittsburgh......

In addition to the primary subject matter of the following article, two important time line dates are given for the project. John Robinson, PNC Director of Development, says that asbestos abatement of existing buildings will start in January, and demolition will begin in March.

Someone posted in the Pittsburgh rundown thread that "The design of the new PNC building has changed substantially. The picture is on the cover of the business section (E) of today's PG. It also gives the official floor count (33)".

Anyone seen this? I can't find any pics of the redesign.

I would love to see it just a little bit taller, but i agree with Aaron, Yowzer! I actually love both the old original renderings, and this new one is also gorgeous.

I like the newer version. It looks like it has a lot more bulk to it.

The rendering is almost like something out of Buck Rogers or Metropolis. It hearkens back to the renderings of visionary projects that never saw the light of day. Good news: this ain't a pipe dream.

It sure is one heck of a building. I would love to have seen this thing surpass 40 floors, but the more I think about it, the more it probably has to do with the mechanical use on top.

I thought I hated the new design when I first saw it, but the more I look at it I think it might just be the angle. Hope they come up with another rendering soon.
