The season is long...off the top of my head, look at the removed Thrashers last year...they were killing it the first half of the season. Second half? Things fell apart.

That said, I was really impressed with their game tonight. Its tough not to believe they might actually be for real (for once). But since I'm not a huge Leafs fan, it's easier for me to be skeptical

That would be an amazing series. Lately, the Bruins and Habs rivalry has been their strongest imo, about time to bring that one back to the forefront.

It's not hate, it's an understanding of the reality of the situation. Getting excited about your team doing well is one thing. Predicting a post-season berth is all well and good. But forecasting a team that hasn't made the post-season at all in 6 years and hasn't even made it to the final in over 40 to suddenly win the cup on the basis of 12 games?

Laughable doesn't even begin to describe it. It's just pure batshit insanity. Let's talk in February and see how they're doing.

I dunno man, the Jets just had a shutout tonight...I think we'll get it this year

In all seriousness, I would love to see the Leafs win a cup. But I am in no way sold on the current team just yet. The season is quite long. Last year Vancouver got off to a slow start...and they made it to the cup finals, and ended with a very nice regular season record.

The Vancouver loss was rough (especially since I had a Canucks fan over to watch), but the Flames have won 3 of 4, and have points in 5 of 7.

And with Winnipeg and Calgary winning... the Habs are now the worst Canadian team (27th overall).

The Oilers have won 6 straight.

Is it just me, or is getting Ryan Smyth back EXACTLY what the Oilers needed to get themselves on the right track?

It's almost as if they never should have let him go... something many of us said back then.

Part of it yes, a big part of it. We had no one who really played his type of game. We needed the heart and effort he provides.

What a great game last night though, my god it is fun to watch.

GO OIL

p.s. nice win leafs

Smyth was the heart of the Oilers, when they let him go they immediately tanked! He is exactly what they needed! I'm almost a little disappointed that he didn't come here, but Calgary has enough players in their 30's.

Sounds like a good game by the flames last night, I'm glad they didn't go on tilt like they usually do after getting their asses handed to them by the Canucks. hopefully they can keep it going, and Iggy can start putting up lots of points.

This is precisely why all of the annual "trade Iggy!" comments really annoy me. Do these people learn NOTHING from history?

What a solid NHL debut for Scrivens.. 38 saves. (I know it was against the worst team but still )

Onto Boston. One game at a time..

According to some guy on Twitter (good source, I know) who did the calculations, the Leafs have had the easiest schedule of any other NHL team to start the year. That was also before they faced last place Columbus last night.

Well it's gonna get easier, we're facing another last place team tomorrow.

We should have another one in the W column tomorrow night.

Leafs are First Overall in the NHL, What do you think?
