^ Could have been...I did watch that one pretty closely but don't remember...

Anyway, on the one-time potential of this being a larger building, it would have been nice no doubt, but of course more concerned with the design, and we have a beauty here, hopefully execution is just as high-quality. On the height, if it makes anybody feel better, remember this has Loewenberg as a VE force, so even if we assume it were 100 units larger (maybe another 7-9 stories or so?), that's what for a building where Loewenberg is the developer and architect of record - like 35-40 extra feet? Not that tremendous a difference....

I know I'm gonna get lambasted for this, but I'm glad the height was reduced... we still get a beautiful minimalist tower, with the added bonus that there is more demand for rentals left in the market. Perhaps that's enough to make or break one of the other proposals.

There was never any previous proposal for this site and therefore no height reduction. . .

Formwork

Styrofoam pieces being used to hold up the rebar cage, the small white pipes are sleves for the rods that hold the forms together.

Finessing the form in so it is precisely level.

A modular form wall system

Work on excavating the main foundaiton "mat" This will sit on 11 main collumns.

Monday Aug 15

Tuesday Aug 16

Wed Aug 17

Friday Aug 19

A sump shaft showing how the steel tube was put in a larger hole then coarse sand filled in. The tube will have holes punched/cut in it and the sand will aid in the drainage.

Delicately excavating around the foundation tops. The column was filled up to the level of the bottom of the mat with cement, then the rest of the hole (rebar still sticking up) was filled with gravel (crushed limestone).

Measure twice dig once.

Form for the bottom of the mat

A tie to the past - I can still remember when there was a rail yard here.

^^^ 4 of those floors are underground. Its only 45 stories above ground. That'll give you some height back.

They're sure moving along on this thing.

The last of the shots from last week - today the head was on the crane and they were assembling the boom

Everybody pulls - then the truck.

One end is top center at the feet of the man in read - the other end is tied to the back of the pickup

Panel ready

some assembly required

Easiest to assemble on the ground

Rotate motors

Crane to put up the crane

Missing Retainer Pin on "figure 8" Tie Bar Link

Hello Harry C

Nice set of photos, thank you.

Although academic and perhaps wasted effort on my part, but in reference to one of your tower crane images posted on 28 Aug, the forth from last photo titled "well used boom", hope that a person on the team responsible for erecting the tower crane noticed and had replaced what looks like a possible missing retainer pin on the small "figure 8" tie bar link.

Croped and modified photo taken by Harry C. (28 Aug 2011).
