Not bad at all, I am finally quite content with this building. I had a feeling it was taller than what the recent articles kept saying, the new renderings made it look taller than a 26 floor building and I am glad its yet another 400 footer. Keep them coming anything over 400 feet is good in my book.

Ofcourse I'd love for it to be taller, but having another 400 foot tower is anything but bad.

Agreed, Its better than what was first planned and the design now is stunning IMO, I think for what it lacks in height makes up for in design.

I am probably off here and over-estimating our influence, but a few things caught me in the article. The revising of the design and upgrading to a JW Marriott from the previous "cookie cutter" design.

It felt like they got feedback that the old design was bland and did not stand out and was not a good fit for Austin's personality. I wonder sometimes if they lurk on boards such as this for feedback on designs before moving forward. I am very happy with the new design and I think it shows how much difference a few changes can make to a building.

I think they upgraded the design and brand because of the much grander (and closer to the convention center) design of the Waller Creek Hotel. Competition is great.

The simplest answer is most often correct and you are probably spot on.

There are no new renderings because the most recent rendering is the one that they are planning on building and they changed the name to fit with the upscale and better designed building.

This is the JW Marriott that was recently built in Indianapolis. Nice addition to our city. 33 stories, 980 rooms.

Many are the same but here are some I hadn't seen before. Here are the newer pictures from their website, which is linked to in that article.

This one is a lot like the old one, but with more details put into it.

Take a look at the rendering looking up at the tower, you can see a lower section that does jut out toward Congress. Im guessing its going to be under 10 floors or so but still, it looks like it wont be in one rectangular tower.

You're right. It does look shorter. The height I got from them was 117 feet. That doesn't even look like it's 100 feet. I've also noticed they're calling it a 30-story building instead of a 33-story one. I'll send them an email to find out for sure.

I sent an email to find out if the height has changed. They told me it has not changed from the 403 foot height (403 feet 8 inches).

News media outlets usually round-off the height of buildings (i.e., number of stories) until they are finalized. And even then, they may still round it off.

The media is in it for the story...not the details. So, I wouldn't pay too much attention to that until the building goes vertical.
