Another good view of Houston is when you're landing at IAH on the north side, out in the piney woods. You can see downtown and all the other highrises with the forests between you and the city. Very different than the earlier view, which I think was taken on the south side in the coastal grassland area.

According to this post, the NY image was created by professional photographer Joseph Holmes, and while it is no longer on his website as part of his portfolio, a very similar image is on his flickr account here.

There's a thread in the Northeast section of the forum talking about the possibility of seeing New York and Philly and also Chicago and Milwaukee.

that's where this thread came from... it was an idea I came up with in the other thread when we were discussing viewing the philly skyline from as far out as possible...

Miami and Ft.Lauderdale's skylines are less than 30 miles apart but I've never seen a pic with both before. I've seen Miami FROM Ft.Lauderdale and vice versa but never both included in one picture.

Fark, I love this thread.

I'd post a shot of Montreal and Longueil, but Longueil is extremely fugly and I would not want to put poo in front of the elegant dame that is Montreal.

I remembering seeing both Toronto and Buffalo from the Skylon Tower at Niagara Falls.

The most distinguished feature in Toronto was the sprawling Sky Dome. That caught my eye before making out the faint needle of the CN tower. If it means anything, the time was about 12 noon at the beginning of January.

Stitching a panorama taken from the Skylon Tower on a clear day (that includes Niagara Falls, Buffalo and Toronto) should be doable.

Not exactly showing the Hamilton skyline, but shows that you can see Niagara Falls from Hamilton. Somewhere there must be a vantage point where you could get both skylines in.

This is a shot from the Niagara Escarpment in Burlington, you can see Niagara Falls and what I think is HSBC in Buffalo sticking up on the right side of the horizon. Burlington is in the foreground.

If you turn your view to the left in the above picture, you can see Burlington, Mississauga and Toronto. Hamilton is to the right but obscured by trees.

If you go to the high ridge on the Niagara Peninsula near Fonthill, Ontario, you can see both Lake Ontario and Lake Erie, Toronto, Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Hamilton is hidden by the Escarpment from there because its downtown is below the Escarpment. For the same reason, you can't see Hamilton from the towers in Niagara Falls and Buffalo.

This view from Buffalo city hall shows how close Buffalo and Niagara Falls are. Again, if Hamilton's downtown were above the Escarpment, it would be easily visible from here as well, just off the left of the frame.

Thanks to Nouvellecosse for sourcing that NY panorama. I added a note to the original post.

Here is the view north from the Washington Monument, showing part of downtown Washington plus the Maryland skylines Bethesda, Rockville, North Bethesda, and Silver Spring.
I made the annotated image based upon this original by flickr user smata2:

Here's another good Miami panorama showing a multitude of skylines. Fort Lauderdale may be peaking up in that cluster of Aventura, but I can't see it.

Here's Tampa and the suburban skyline around the Tampa airport, taken from a cruise ship. I'm pretty sure I had a picture with both Tampa and Saint Petersburg from the same ship, but will have to search to find it, and it may take some photoshopping to highlight the tiny skylines far against the horizon.

It's definitely possible to see them both at the same time. I saw them on that ship, and also took this picture of downtown Tampa from downtown St Pete.

more from the Bay Area:

SF with San Mateo in the foreground:

(can't see SF's skyline in this shot, but it would be to the right, out of the frame. You can really see how the Sutro TV Tower, uh, towers over SF though...the tip of the tower is about 1,800' above sea level).
those 3 pics are from: http://www.flickr.com/photos/webgeek...n/photostream/

Here's SF with Foster city in the foreground (foster city is next to San Mateo):

SF with the Brisbane skyline in front:

Berkeley in front, SF in back:

Berkeley in front, Oakland in Back, with more mid/highrises visible across the bay in the far background:

I know you can see both the Trenton, NJ and Philadelphia skylines from the Delaware River Bridge connecting the NJ and PA turnpikes.
