They put up a "Canada's Action Plan" sign in my city when they did simple maintenance on any federal building. In a few cases the signs probably cost more to install than the actual work. One building got covered in tarp for almost a year but you never saw people working on the building, and when they removed it, nothing had changed.

It could have been something like asbestoes removal... many of the projects funded by the stimulus plan were things like that, or equipment upgrades that you wouldn't notice.

In regards to the York upgrade though, they weren't simply referring to the painted diamond lane were they? I would hardly refer to that as a bike path. Nor would I believe that it would require three levels of government to supply the necessary amount of said paint/labourers. If that's what it was, then at least they did something, and if not, what was supposed to go there? I will snap a pic when I walk past them next.

Came down York from Memorial to Hargrave on my way to work this evening and there are no bike lanes on that section. I don't recall any either from Donald to Main st.

City active transportation webpage says that York is a future bike route.

There is a web page for Action plan that you can put your provence in and zoom to a project and see what was done.

I have no idea what economic action was stimulated, but I'm sure the sign is registered in the purported national geospatial database of every green sign (all printed in the USA) issued.
Looks like it could be a sewerage lagoon expansion according to the action plan web site.

That makes sense, but I don't see one anywhere nearby there. Its just an empty field. I'll take a picture if I get a chance.

Just looked at Google maps and from what I can see the sign must have been put on the highway for publicity. The actual lagoon appears to be next to Twin Creek at least a mile if not more north of the highway .

Probably coming down so they can put a new building on its lot and what appears to be an empty lot to the north of it.

$1.5 million to seal windows and install new handrails. Nice! But why did they only seal windows on one half of the front of the building?

Yikes, lets hope that white box is not exactly what is going to be built. I have a refrigerator that looks more exciting then that.

So they are going to tear this beauty down and put another eyesore on main like the WRHA bunker. Unreal...........way to go Sammy Katz, you screw up Heritage Landing and you allow this eyesore to be built.

In the 1950s five ladies in Wolseley held vigil at a big tree to prevent City crews from taking it down.

When are we going to start doing this for our heritage buildings? Whatever we are doing now seems to be having no effect
