Cerner unveils plans for two office towers in KCK

Despite being in the suburban, western part of the city, as part of the greater Village West development including Kansas Speedway, a casino, professional soccer stadium, minor-league baseball park, Schlitterbahn waterpark, as well as hundreds of thousands of square feet of destination retail and hotels, this is great for this community. This long-time blue-collar community that peaked in 1970 was in need of the new blood these developments have brought.

Wow! Very cool!!! Love the architecture. I'm surprised to hear any new office development right now considering the marketplace and the glut of space available! Usually these things only get off the ground if there is a single tenant and they are consolidating, expanding, or renovating space.

While I would prefer these buildings to go downtown KCK, it is a welcome addition to a city that up until about 10 years ago was largely forgotten!!

The first 'tower' is rising in this project, expected to open providing 1000 office jobs for KCK, which is incredibly significant and I believe a first for my hardcore blue-collar hometown. The second tower is to begin construction once the first opens, per the Kansas City Business Journal.

In KCgridlock's photo (http://www.skylinescenes.com/), the Kansas City Wizards MLS stadium can be seen. To the left of it is Kansas Speedway, to the right the Legends shopping center, all part of the 'Village West' development in western KCK.
