There are also several other buildings approved but looking for anchor tenants. If they receive tenants I will make a thread about them as well... and Philly is littered with construction at the current moment... very few of them are skyscrapers unfortunately.

Philly is positively littered with construction--just not of the highrise sort.

BTW the Sidney Hillman Development (as this thing is provisionally called) is supposed to be mostly apartments. The existing hospital will also be replaced within the building AFAIK.

Yes... as for what I heard... the first floor will be retail. Floors 2 & 3 will be the medical center... then floors 4-34 will be residential apartments/condos.

Great infill tower, especially considering the lack of construction in the U.S. nowadays.

Is this thing under construction? It sounds more like it belongs in the proposals section at this point unless I am mistaken.

I believe they have started demo on the Sidney Hillman Medical Center but I could be wrong. They have also gotten 12 million from PA Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program so I am pretty sure it is going up.

Demo is supposed to have begun - I'll roll by to see today. And this is the final render - the rounded edges and balconies have been excised.

Fair enough, but demo of the existing building is not considered construction of the building.

This one should probably be moved to the proposal section until construction on the building itself starts.

Yes I know demo was supposed to begin and this thing is DEFINITELY going up so no it shouldn't belong in the proposals.... and ew... that is all I have to say about that final rendering. I guess that's the post-NIMBY version, but hey, I'll take any skyscraper and this point

I dont mean to be a downer, I fully believe you that this thing will more than likely get built, however that is not the criteria for buildings going into the under construction section. If that was the case I can think of dozens of buildings that are in that stage in Toronto alone that should be moved to the U/C section. As it stands now the actual building must be U/C for it to be in this section, so could a mod please move this to the appropriate section?

I read somewhere (perhaps I dreamed this) that the existing medical center was going to be reconstructed on Samson & 21st or Sansom & 20th. Does anyone have that information if it exists?

The demo indeed has yet to start, I stopped by today. There is a notice about moving the center but I didn't catch the location.
