It's very impressive to see how much those 8 new stories build up the Market Street 'canyon.' This and 1919 Market are going to be great for the CBD.

Agreed. Also both projects will add some more pedestrian density to one of the only parts of Center City that is dead after 6 (at least when compared to other parts of Center City).

So are the towers on the back of the building not connected to the main building?

This looks like it's nearing completion. Still some work to be done on the back wings and the retail spots on the bottom floor. Looks to me like some people have moved into the front of the building in the first 9 floors.

Hmm, the design is very plain but the finished result is looking pretty nice in that conservative kind of way. Urban infill is always good for the city.

I just wish Market would push all the way to 23rd with development.

So much under used space right there. worse than the disney hole in many ways

It could have been a tackier form of modernist architecture if they went with the faux brick panels. Would you have liked that better? I personally believe that the end result of this project is certainly an improvement that looks clean and tasteful.

I'm not one to condemn buildings merely because they're strongly influenced by prior examples. Take what's good from any source and use modern construction methods, even pre-fab/pre-cast panel, is my attitude.

Having said that, I agree this is high quality infill.
