Oh, motherfucker, I love these so much. I got addicted when I went to Tokyo, and at my highest point, was going through three a day. No beverage in the world tastes better. I was crushed when they banned them in the U.S., due to shoddy conditions in the factories that they are made. Luckily, Canada hasn't banned Kirin Milk Tea, and so now, whenever my dad is shooting a movie up there, I'll go with him and literally drown my body in milk tea goodness. It can't be healthy for me to be binging on milk tea whenever I go to Canada, but I don't care.

And great photos! Tokyo is my favorite city in the world.

Nice Tokyo photos! Seems Japan has recovered well from the earthquake, even if Tokyo wasn't immediately affected.

Great minds think alike...

I try to mix things up for drinks, just because there's vending machines on every corner and there's so much too chose from. I normally don't drink coffee at home, but I love all the canned coffee drinks available in Japan. In the end, though, I always find myself going back to the milk tea... It's incredibly addictive.

^^ Heh, actually I got pretty sick of canned coffee after a few months in Japan. I currently get my fix from Ministop drip coffee - 200 yen less than Starbucks for the same mediocre taste!

Love the pics. Can't wait for the rest!

If only Japan was more diverse it could truly become the city of the future ahead of every city on the planet.

Hell of a city. My mind is boggled at the amount of brain power that has been used to create such a complex but functional urban labyrinth.

And yet the human scale is superb. I can never get enough.

Nice pics! Tokyo is an awesome city. I went for a couple weeks several years ago and hope to make it back again some day. There was no Sky Tree when I was there so I will need to check that out.

wow - Tokyo is just such an urban spectacle, and impeccably dressed. You've captured it superbly . I can't think of many societies that could create the world's biggest city, yet also make it so liveable to boot.

I respect the Japanese greatly for remaining homogeneous. Great set of photos by the way.

Tokyo is still very diverse despite being in one of the most ethnically homogeneous countries in the world, in contrast to the rest of multicultural Asia (other than Korea).

You can eat almost any cuisine from Afghan to Zambian (and throw in some Michelin stars), and social culture is as varied and international as any global city, from Hawaiian ukelele meets to Serbian gabba clubs, the finest Scotch whisky specialists to Bollywood cinemas. The youth especially make up for it in their myriad urban tribes, from surfers to Ganguro, punks to mods to kokujo, each with their own sub-tribes. Still, being a foreigner is not a rarity in the city, over 400,000 foreign born live in the centre - not including descendants.
