A $55 million upgrade to parkland along Buffalo Bayou is set to add performance venues, improve recreational areas and revitalize downtown-area green space that officials hope will become a magnet and refuge similar to New York's Central Park.

Houston City Council on Wednesday approved an operating agreement paving the way for construction, including a major restructuring of Buffalo Bayou and restoration of its ecosystems. The Harris County Commissioners Court will take up a similar agreement Tuesday.

This is very exciting. Hopefully this will spur more of the same east of downtown.

Im surprised to see Anise unass with any money for public improvement after all the shit she talked about Bill White and his projects, Like discovery green which consequently spurred the construction of 4 new skyscrapers and downtowns first actual grocery store.

i also read about the new music venue. Just one more place the city con shut down a concert with their new stupid noise ordinance regulations.

Looks like all the costs are covered by donations....

It would be really nice if they could somehow connect the new bike trail all the way over to Memorial Park so you don't have to deal with any traffic.

I was thinking that too. It would make it a lot safer than now.
