That's astoundingly good news!

!5'th and Stout

I live near here and saw them taking core samples around the abandoned restaurant at that intersection. Looking back I see there was a 17 story hotel planned there. Looks like that project might be moving again.

The old Hotel Gold Crown proposal? Does Ranko Mocevic still own this parcel?

No, the property was transferred to an entity called H&M Mortgage and Investments, likely due to foreclosure, and was just sold again last month to a company called JBK Hotels LLC that was incorporated last year.

So, a likely hotel proposal, but something different than the Gold Crown proposal.

The property was purchased by "JBK Hotels LLC" in March of this year. A site plan application was submitted to the City in February.

So the 'Gotham Tower' is dead then. A pity. I loved that glowing red crown:

you never know...when a deal goes south, the previous developer can always sell the rights to plans to the next developer, based on the contract with the architect.

BCP do you still own that lot on Blake and 32nd I think? Looks like there's a zoning change sign up on that corner. Are you planning on develop it after all?

Anything, I repeat ANYTHING, would be a huge improvement over the long-shuttered single-story former Burger King!

Good news that something's about to change at the site!

A friend emailed this to me today, and I thought the forum might be amused.

Question: What's the 3rd building? It looks familiar but I can't place it.

HA...3rd building is the new Clyrord Still musuem...actually quite an amazing structure / collection.

^^ regarding land at 32nd and Blake...we parted ways with the land after the collapse, but retained our drawings for "LIFT" (14 townhomes)....we hope to do those on another location sometime!

I'm surprised they would re-zone...we had 3' setbacks, parking reduction and no bulk-plane to contend with (CMU-10)....but hopefully they do something great on that spot!

Is it possible to find the site plan online? What exactly is a site plan?

A site plan is a step in the development review process. Here's there process generally: http://denvergov.org/DevelopmentServ...1/Default.aspx

Basically, you get your site plan approval first, which lets the city review it for compliance with zoning requirements, etc. then you move on to getting an actual building permit (fire codes, structural, etc.)

To my knowledge, no, they are not available for viewing online.

Love it, Cirrus! Also reminds me of why I love the Civic Center area so much, as the architecture is simply extremely diverse!

There could be two new hotels rising by the convention center if plans for Block 162 (16th & California) and 15th & Stout go through. Hopefully we find out more soon. Block 162 is especially exciting because it's mixed-use.

Really? I thought that block 162 was effectively on hold until the next construction bubble? I haven't seen anything from Makovsky since before the two buildings were demolished. I'm still a bit sore about the loss of those two.
